I just picked up this mouse yesterday, and it does support dark field (i use a icemat mouse pad, matte black w/ painted black on the other side). Great mouse, love it, wish i had bought it sooner.

Don't know about 2, But in the Logitech Gaming Software, the Volume UP/Down are under Assign New Command>Media. Just tested it and it works for me. Can also assign Play/Pause, Stop, Prev/Next Track...

I believe you don't need logitech software to change this, windows can do this (assume you use windows:D). Just go to control panel - mouse, you can find it there.
