If people are concerned re: budget airlines and tiny pack sizes, I'd highly recommend the Osprey Transporter 40 -- Really excellent and very simple. I was in Europe for 16 days last fall and...

The straps on this are not as robust (ex hip straps) as the farpoint 40/55. I did a lot of research and decided for the farpoint as a result. Also for those looking the 2016 model has some...

This one is a "duffel", looks to be more safely within carry on measurements and is just slightly less capacity https://www.backcountryedge.com/osprey-porter-46-2014.html

The Farpoint 40 is also on sale for $120, with Amazon price matching that. Can anyone weigh in on the Farpoint 55 vs Farpoint 40? Both seem like great packs on the whole.

Most airlines are much more lenient with carryons when they're soft shelled backpack types. The rollers are the ones they will make you check. Be wary of discount airlines like Ryanair in Europe and...

Another owner weighing in - I purchased this pack in March with my REI dividends and am very pleased with the purchase. I've traveled with it and had no issues carrying on (did have to take off the...

They have a lifetime warantee, so if its damaged in some way you can return it to Osprey for a new one.

Take the daypack off and pack a Osprey Daylite Backpack, which is super light and easily packable.

This bag is amazing. I was able to carry it on (including the day pack) on an international flight to Europe. Was able to fit 2 weeks worth of clothes in this pack! Great price as well!

I have used this backpack for over two dozen trips (international and domestic) and can vouch it's carry on friendly. I have never had any issues. A few airlines I had to take out the front daypack...

I have the 55 liter pack, I travel a lot, at least 4 long trips each year, and this goes with me most of the time. It has always been taken on board. I have never had an issue. In fact, one time...

I have the Farpoint 70 and it fits most (but not some discount airline) carry on. These also have lifetime guarantees from Osprey which is pretty awesome.

Looked at Alaska Air's site, and while it exceeds the max length for a carry-on, the total dimension is smaller than what Alaska has. Also, check out the reviews on REI. A few people successfully...

The video on their page at the 6-minute mark says that it exceeds the size limit for a carry-on... :-/ Might be able to get it to work if you removed the day back, but I'd hate to risk it.

If you remove the Daypack I think it is, but also the Daypack is squishable so if you're lucky, you don't even have to remove it.

Looks like a good backpack. Will this meet the specs for a carry on for airlines?
