reset restores the system back to factory settings. you probably selected the clean install. i just did it and it did not ask me to boot from a usb.

I've used the tool in he past but I know 100% sure I did a fresh install on this machine by using the build in recovery options. I did not use a usb stick at all.

Whatever, it worked for me. Did it download the image, it should tell you if it did. Otherwise download the tool. It's the option on the bottom of the recovery page.

Don't think you did it right. It asks for several options to select. You need to take the most rigorous ones.

No idea. It downloads a stock Microsoft copy and installs it. All set, even has all drivers installed correctly.
