This is a good price but isn't exactly an insane discount (-10%) from their everyday price.

The nice deal here is for those buyers for whom an 8-port is overkill as some 8-port models sit around the $15/port price point at their everyday prices.

Good luck!
Jon
There are now many cheap 2.5Gb switch available in the market even with higher capacity. Trendnet is decent but probably not much better than those using the new Realtek chips at around half the price.

I've been using Tenda ones. I really like them. $99.99

8 x 2.5GB ports with 2 x SFP 2.5G ports for SFP modules uplink. I use fiber between rooms to link the switches.

Looks like it's not the right time of using 2.5G Switches until they (Netgear, TP-Link,...) go under $50.

There are several around the $50 range that appear to have good reviews, but all but one gets a C,D, or F on Fakespot for having fake reviews. This includes the others linked above in the thread. One of them had a B on Fakespot and I had it in my cart but then I found another listing for the same model where it got a D...multiple listings for the same product is a automatic flag that the seller is up to shenanigans in my book (likely review manipulation). I have the one $50ish one (NICGIGA) that scored well in my cart but not sure if it's worth the premium to get the name brand TRENDnet. On paper the NICGIGA is also better because it has an SFP port.

What if I already have a 5 port and need an 8? I can simply daisy chain another 5 port instead of replacing with an 8 right?

I cannot recommend as I just got the Xikestor web managed one yesterday. It is working okay so far and does has VLAN support. By the way, I updated the firmware from 1.3 to 1.9 before use.
