Would the TEG-S5061 be a better deal? seems to have to same specs but adds one 10g SFP+ port. I am just asking I have no idea, my networking is this power to be able to take advantage of these speeds yet.

most SFP+ ports are usually for business use. so unless you plan on piggy backing another switch to this, i wouldn't worry about it.

i have two 8 port 2.5g network switch with 2 sfp+ ports on both of them that i was planning to use. but a year and a half later and still haven't used them or feel the need to use them. so i say, grab the switch that has enough ports for you to make use of and don't think twice about SFP+. it's either you need it or you don't.

I would say for $3 more I'd definitely go with a 10G SFP+ port. For me, it's a no-brainer. I get all the ports in the original post, plus a 10G SFP+. In my case, my main switches are already 10G, so the uplink is worth it.
Now, in theory, if you know you will never use that SFP+ port, you're wasting $3. But that's basically a drop in the bucket, and (if I did not already have 10G capability) I personally would pay $3 for the option to have 10G uplink someday.
That said, YMMV. It's also reasonable to save $2 and not buy something you don't need. Since I'm already on 10G, there is some selection bias to my opinion.

Edit: clarifying my bias. And corrected price difference (off by $1).

Does the 10G SFP+ port work with 1G SFP to RJ-45 adapters?

I just got a 8*2.5Gb + 2*10Gb SFP+ switch off Amazon a few days that HAD a 23% off coupon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CT2F3...tails&th=1

I am getting the full 10Gb across the two SFP+ ports after enabling jumbos.

Some guy on youtube speaks highly of this one for what it's worth.

In general, yes. SFP+ is backwards compatible with SFP, and (as you know) you can get those for cheap.
I have seen some SFP+ copper RJ45 modules being picky about link speed, meaning they will negotiate 10G and only 10G (not 2.5, 5, etc). I've paid for Mikrotik S+RJ10 since they will negotiate at all speeds.

Been running one of these for a year or so. Zero issues.

If running truenas, there's more support for sfp nics than there are 2.5g nics, usually cheaper too on eBay.

You can get an SFP adapter that's a normal Ethernet port (1G/2.5G/10G) aka RJ45 jack. So at the worst, it adds another port. But it can also give you backhaul (connection to a capable router or another switch) at up to 10GBe for cheap (~$30).
