These Dock Demons are awesome for kayak fishing - much easier to keep from getting tangled up in trees when the rod is this short, and the rod will bend double and not break! If nothing else, take the reel that comes with it, donate it to Goodwill or somewhere like that, and put a better reel on it. A Zebco 33 works great on these rods, and one thing I've done lately is buy older Johnson Citation or Century reels on ebay or from Marketplace/yard sales. If you can get one that works well for $10 or so, rebuild it using a YouTube video for reference (easy to do - just take it apart and regrease the gears). You will have a reel that may outlast you!
The "slingshot" model isn't allowed to ship to CA and I think I just realized why… Amazon seems to think this is literally a slingshot and there are apparently very strict regulations against those here
😂
These are always $10 at WM. I just bought one for my 4yo.
Speaking of 4yo's, these are way better for kids than the cartoon rods that cost more. Get one of these, instead, and it will last them until they're big enough for a more reasonably sized rod.
These are also decent to toss in the trunk if you want to be prepared to fish on a whim. They don't take up a ton of space, the tip probably won't break from sliding around, and they work great for panfish, smaller bass or catfish.

This is silly, these combos have been permanently on sale at these prices for at least two years. I got a dock demon for my kid and every nephew and niece and even neighbors kid. Function wise the reel is crap the drag is almost always stuck. It does keep my fingernails short cause I keep cracking them on the sticky drag wheel
This is the regular price for these and it is well worth it. This thing will double over without breaking. Definitely good for most types of fishing and Definitely not just for kiddos. Your not living till you've reeled in a kicking bass on one of these shorties!

I got a red and a blue slingshot model last year for my sons. I think they're called slingshot because the top end of the rod literally flies off when they cast it. 🤣
The reel is pure junk and my older son almost quit fishing because it would just stop pulling the line in. He would be reeling forever and unless grabbing the line and pulling away from the rod to put more tension in it, it wouldn't actually retrieve the line.
I gave him my old 5ft ugly stick with an open reel on it and it's perfect for pan fish. He got the hang of the open reel without issue even at 5 years old.
