I usually share the same idea when this post comes up, and I'm heavily into the cobalt line, but there's no reason to buy this over the ridgid version. The ridgid version is the exact same compressor, probably produced in the same exact factory, but the ridgid comes with the lifetime warranty (service agreement). Might as well get a lifetime warranty for the same price vs 1 year.

I only have loyalty to battery systems. DeWalt and Kobalt. The rest is a mishmash of quality for frequently used tools or great deals for tools I'm not sure how much I'll use it. I bought the Bostitch pancake combo years ago, before I knew about the Ridgid and CSA. Bostitch/DeWalt was good about replacing the bigger nail gun when it was faulty, but yes I'm on my own now if something breaks.

Thanks for sharing your good advice.

Help me understand a couple things, please.

The rigid isn't on sale right now, I'm seeing $129.99... so I'll assume you're recommending we wait until it matches this price, but

The rigid states : Manufacturer Warranty - 3-Year Limited Warranty. So what do you mean by "comes with the lifetime warranty (service agreement)"?

looks like they don't give lifetime warranty replacements for this based on the comments?

I'm curious as well. They all look like they come from the same factory. Rigid has the best warranty. All I want is something for car tires and bicycle tires to get to 150 psi. Menards has the Bostitch for $114 after rebate. Is that much better?
TIA

What battery system are you in? A pancake compressor is really over kill for car tires/bike. Are you going from flat to fill or just top off? I bought this when it was around $30 and I use it every couple weeks. I'm thinking of buying this from Lowe's. Any recommendations? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-K...1002183680

caveat would be, this is not good to do a full fill. it'll burn out. it's really best for top offs.

Thanks, ToolsForDad, I agree with your observation. I did go ahead and buy the Pancake. I'm sure it is overkill, but I am about to find out. I was shocked that just a decent hose, and simple accessories set me back another $40. :o)

Is this equivalent to RIDGID 6 Gallon Portable Pancake Air Compressor in performance?

They look like very different compressors to me and the Ridgid's warranty is 3 years, not lifetime. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../303379052

Yes, same 2.6cfm at 90psi (150psi max) specs for both of them.

Not all Ridgid products have LSA.

This one does:

FYI this unit was on sale for $200 before, I'm hoping it happens again

But it seems this one doesn't:

Sometime in 2023 or maybe 2022 they updated the LSA to include compressors. That info on the product page is outdated. Here's a screenshot of my ridgid compressor registered for LSA just for next time.
