Great price. I bought an weaker version and it does help get rid of some of the 2nd floor heat in my house. It was easy to install. I use a wifi switch to remotely turn it on whenever I want.

A grand?? There are lots more fan options that are much cheaper, such as this comparable one for $329

or even this guy for $125.

They fit on or between studs where you have a roof gable or any sort of gable-type louvered vent. You can also just cut the appropriate hole in a gable and use the included vent.

Removing heat from the attic reduces room temps all by itself, or you can cut or convert vents into certain rooms for a direct exhaust option. These fans can be controlled with a simple on/off switch, or can utilize an add-on or included thermostat control.

You can have a screaming loud fan for $350, or an almost silent fan that moves the same amount of air for $999.

The fan you linked is direct drive, with some janky non insulated shutter that consumes almost twice the electricity as the quiet cool.

We have a couple of the QC fans and they have saved me thousands in AC costs and you can stand underneath them with just a small hum. Totally worth the extra money.

A quiet whole house fan is probably my favorite house upgrade ever. In the bay area where it cools down at night, these are the best. PG&E is sucking the life out of us but these will cool you down for minimal $$. Nothing beats sleeping by the window with one of these babies humming quietly all night, a cool breeze casting across you. Definitely spend the extra money to get the style the OP posted, quiet is the key here, no one wants those other crappy ones that only work when it sounds like a helicopter is flying in your hallway!! Buy one of these, you won't regret it. I will say, I have a much more expensive 5 speed airscape that I can control with my phone and smartthings but I'd settle for this in a heartbeat if it was a fan vs no fan.
