I am not sure you'll get a noticeable boost in performance from additional cache if you plan to use it in a server setup. If you're running a bunch of VMs, extra cores would make more of a difference. They will help reduce thread queues for CPU time. You can check CPU ready meric in your VMs to see how long they wait for the physical CPU to become available.
Well, unless you game. X3D has much better gaming performance.
