My local store has this on display and they are running a compressed 4k feed and even at that and at factory settings, the picture is more then decent ..not sure where the "not bright enough" comment is coming from.
I'm redoing my living room this year and have my eyes on it but will wait for the $1999 with free installtion to return ..BB just had it at $2k back in Jan so keep yours ears out. Currently using a 8 yr old 1080p projector in my man cave with a 110" screen so this would be a perfect HT replacement and right in my living room where I spend more time.
And I would take Rting reviews with a grain of salt...I own several prods that's on their "not recommended" list and I've never had any issue with any. Keep in mind reviews can be biased and sometimes overly critical. Yeah...let me review a $10k TV and write all great things about it cos thats what regular folks spend on a TV, right.
My inlaws just bought the other 98" TCL on sale and it looks fantastic in their living room.that one is only 120hz but the panel is still pretty good. And this Hisense has a better panel and 144hz compared to the TCL.

The issue is, most youtubers review this thing in a dark room. But I need to put this in a bright living room..
