I got this during a Steam sale and played it over 10 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised with the story and how well it's animated. Wanting to know more about the game, I was delighted to discover that Andy Serkis (of Gollum/LoTR fame) graced us with yet another stellar motion captured and voice acted performance. I've been itching to replay it again after all these years.
From what I remember, the gameplay is a bit shallow and repetitive with a simple combo system. What kept me going was the story, acting, and mostly satisfying gameplay. Come to think of it, I have a similar experience with Ninja Theory's other game: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. You may recognize some of their other titles: Heavenly Sword, DmC (2013), Disney Infinity. I'm excited for Hellblade II.
If you're interested in learning about the roots of Ninja Theory and also like story-driven action games with simple controls, this game may be right up your alley.
I played this on PS3 years back and sometimes have found myself wishing I still had it for another playthrough.
Not a very long game, but fun and well-done. Like a slightly shorter Uncharted game. Andy Serkis (voice/motion capture actor for Gollum in LOTR) does the voice of Monkey. It's a take on a classic Chinese tale. Fun game, especially for this price.
Played it on 360 and and replaying it on the Steam Deck. It is better than I remembered. Andy Sirkis does an incredible job and is instantly holds your attention. Highly recommend for any Deckers out there.
I know this has fans, but this was pretty much all an escort mission, so if you don't like those, you might not like this. I also disliked Trip for everything she is, was, says, does. Beautiful character designs for their time, though (all of them).
