it's my everyday pack for my laptop / work gear. and it's my personal item when traveling (fairly frequently).
this bag has been great. i'm not super careful with it, but i don't thrash it around either. absolutely recommend for similar usage. having to resist getting another...
(edit) fwiw my laptop is 16.2, in a sleeve, and fits.
Also some stitching started breaking earlier.

In 2017 I replaced it with a Targus Drifter II under lifetime warranty by shipping it back at my cost for $20. It lasted 7 months before a shoulder strap self destructed. Several reviews suggest that the shoulder strap is a weak point that breaks. I decided not to bother sending it back again.
Bought an Osprey Quasar Daypack in 2018 and it's still in perfect condition today.
Targus is trash, avoid it.
