The run cap on our 7yo unit went bad in the characteristic way and I ended up getting the $17 multimeter from Harbor Freight to test it: https://www.harborfreig
$17 for the multimeter and $14 for the capacitor delivered overnight from Amazon and the AC was back up and running, no $150+ visit from an HVAC repair tech needed.
No but way cheaper. Works good.
