Asus Routers are a good way to go. You can also go with pfsense, but requires alot of time and effort to setup.

The app sucks. Log in through the browser and you’ll get a ton of options to customize. They make the app way too basic IMO. I think the website is https://router login.net (no spaces)

Netgear Routers, even top of the line DONOT support Vpn on router level, which is surprising as most other brands do. So in future if you want to have a vpn you will be sol.
