Incredibly misleading statement, and a worthless junk article.

The DNA matches (i.e. close family matches, 1st & 2nd & 3rd cousin matches, distant cousin matches, etc.) are the main thing you get, and they are ALWAYS correct. You use them to prove or disprove the various branches of your family tree, or to figure out your tree if you are an adoptee.


The ethnicity estimate, on the other hand, is an estimate based on how similar your DNA is to databases of people with known ancestry in certain countries/populations. It is an approximation, but is usually fairly accurate, and the results are updated over time as the databases and algorithms are improved.
