Hyundai is using the loophole in the EV incentive to apply the $7500 federal rebate towards the lease of their EVs.

Making it the cheapest EV Lease at the moment with a total lease cost of $6535 before taxes over the term.
  • $1999 due at signing
  • $189/mo
  • 24 month term
  • 10,000 mile package
So, to be clear there are income restrictions:
  • The federal EV tax credit will be available to individuals reporting adjusted gross incomes of $150,000 or less, $225,000 for heads of households, or $300,000 for joint filers
Vehicle Specs:
  • RWD: Estimated 361-mile All-Electric Range
  • RWD: 168 kW (225 hp)
  • Ultra-fast charging (Up to 350kw - 800volt)
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Active grille shutters

No, there are not.

The income restrictions only apply to purchases-- this car does not qualify for the credit inherently for purchase- only for lease.

And income restrictions don't apply to leases.

You can, of course, potentially buy out the lease afterward- but income being over the limits you listed isn't relevant to this deal at all.

Depends what you mean by charging station and how much/how fast you need range added.

A normal plug-into-the-wall charger, pluged into a normal 120v wall socket, will add 2-4 miles of range per hour back to the car.... this is enough for how much the average american drives in a day for the amount of time the car would on average be at home charging like this.... but may not be enough for your speciifc situation.

If you want significantly faster you'd need to either:

Plug a wall charger into a 240V socket-- which MAY require an electrician if you have no such socket and can't DIY.... or you might already have one for say an electric dryer, that is near enough to the car to share them for this purpose.... This will typically get you 15-30 miles per hour added back on depending on the specific charger and car.

OR

Permanently mount an EV wall charger- which would definitely require an electrician if you're needing to ask the question- and sounds like not what you want anyway given the try-it-out thing.
If you ask them to install a 14-50 receptacle for a dryer, it would probably be cheaper than asking them to install it for an EV.
I've had the standard range version of this car since August and have nothing but good things to say about it. It's so much cheaper than my old gas car and it's so nice to have a "full tank of gas" every morning.

The rear of the car looks like the back of the 90's Saab

Any else think of Jerry Seinfeld?

Great deal if you can find one in your local dealership. Nothing around NYC area.

Does one need to hire an electrician to install a charging station at their home? I'd like to try an EV without having to totally commit to buying one.

Why would there be income restrictions? This is a lease not a sale. Businesses don't have income restriction of individual buyers.

FYI, the SEL is also $1,999 down for another $100/mo. You lose some range, but it's still more than the standard range.
