why would anyone want this e-trash that has been completely obsolete for more than 10 years, probably 15?

2.4 ghz only, N only, no gigabit ethernet, with a crappy CPU... and refurb??? in 2012 i bought AC1750 dual band dual core refurb routers with 16 times larger flash (!!!) for $59 !!! wtf!

For home I would agree the AC1750 is better, but these have different use cases. These are perfect as a travel router to connect your devices and home network via VPN securely when you're traveling. Very niche use case though but it has its benefits.

There's been sales on glinet refurb travel routers that are newer/ more powerful for around the same price. The mango is truly obsolete, and my Beryl will soon be deprecated at the end of this year.

Specific use cases. I run a VPN Server across the globe and want to enjoy my Cable-IP TV at home, so I set this up as an always-connected VPN Client from an ethernet drop next to my TV. don't care if it only offers 2.4Ghz or that's "underpowered". It's more than enough to mantain a stable connection to my OTT cable box. It's low power is ideal since I already have my main (non-VPN'ed) wireless network running. It's powered by the 5W iphone old power brick.

Mango v2 got recently upgraded to OpenWRT 22 from v19.
