That is a very simple minded assumption. The quality of the PRODUCT determines its status not its brand. Yes premium products can be associated with a specific brand but the product itself must be deemed premium for it to be worth the extra cost associated with that status....

You are not comparing apple to apple. MacBook can't compete with Surface.....I wouldn't pay more than 300$ for the MacBook that is sold for $3000+.

Installation procedure different, they have a special image last I recall and you will have to install more drivers. I recall doing this for my surface devices.
