If anyone grabs this up, audio is much better using a 3.5 mm cable. If you use it with Bluetooth make sure you download the app and switch it to movie mode. The default music mode setting sounds terrible in comparison. Overall I think these are great. I recommend trying these foam cups for a huge soundstage Improvement
"Velor Replacement Ear Pads for HyperX Cloud & Alpha, ATH M50X, Steelseries Arctis, Logitech G Pro & More Headphones, Soft Velour, Memory Foam & Long Lasting Earpads by Brainwavz" on Amazon
-They are a little loose but the sound is amazing!
(Your basically turning these into open-back headphones except they actually have bass and the most bass ever on top of that, this setup really deserves to be recognized by the headphone enthusiast community, if only the X2HR's had these haptic kickers in them, I've thought about buying a pair of each and attempting a Frankenstein build)
These cups with my LG G8's quad DAC and on board DTS X with side to side setting on, and you're in the sound experience that has never been done before
With EQ take a little off the 6000 KHz
-oh and if I'm travelling or exercising, I might throw the stock cups back on.

the ' LG G8 thinq ' can be had for $70 on Ebay the on board quad DAC combined with the onboard DTS-X side to side setting and EQ, has brought the best musical experience I've ever known next to a full Atmos DTS-X high end sound system. If anyone buys this phone, the best phone for audio ever imo, they will not regret it. This DTS-X 'side to side' setting cannot be found anywhere else, not even on PC and it's really unbelievable. this phone with these headphones for dyanmic sound, bass and portability, unmatched.
This phone with a pair of Philips X2HR's- the best 3d musical experience ever. The X2HR's are the only headphones that bring sound around the front of your face with forward and backward sound motions. It feels like the music's going on in your frontal lobe, as appose to in between your ears and to the sides and behind you. Even all of HIfiman's best headphone's as well as the HD 800 S from Sennheiser can't give you the same frontal sound. Rtings also reports this about the X2HR's. (I also do the velor replacements with these)
I prefer these 2 headphone setups over everything else on the market

For woking out, with BASS, these are hands down the best over-ear headphones you can get. These will not win any awards with audiophiles but they still sound decent, especially with the app. Battery life is amazing also.
I've been using these every day for over a year straight. Recently the earpads started to rip and pop out of the cup, until finally it was unwearable. I was bummed out thinking i'd have to buy another pair but after looking on amazon I found that they sell replacement pads in various colors and styles. I got them and popped 'em back on and it's good as new!
These headphones are designed for people who are REALLY into bass, like me. They actually vibrate significantly on your head, like getting a massage. I've never found any headphones that were designed this way. This would probably feel over the top and annoying for someone who didn't want that. You can adjust the amount of vibration with a slider on the headphones.
So if you are a serious basshead and you don't want to buy a headphone amplifier along with some $300+ pair of headphones in order to get that serious slamming pounding bass you can physically feel, these are perfect. They also are made very well and dont have any thin, weak hinges that can eventually break, unlike a lot of headphones these days. The replaceable cups was the cherry on top.

i will try the brainwaves out...as you stated, from my experience also, these sound way better using 3.5m audio cable. I also use a headphone amp, ifi hip dac, and sometimes the fiio btr7...nothing else i've heard came close with that type of rumble
I own these, they are great for that price, and great for movies, especially action, I pair them up to my TV and when I want to listen to some trance or hip hop.
Depends on your desire/needs.. If you want a bass headphone then...I had the q30, sounded pretty decent. When it's rumble time, I bring out the bass candy for the skull

I really wanted the Bose QC but could not stand not being able to disable ANC and the Audio Passthrough.
