How so? Dahmer is a well known homosexual who murdered several people and cannibalized them. The title is simply and accurately stating those facts, which are noted in the article and being summarized for the thread title. The title of this thread is also simply and accurately stating facts but the undertone is that the GOP is out to kill Obama, just as there is also an undertone to the Dahmer title I suggested in that homosexuals are murderous cannibals (although by default aren't cannibals murderous?). Or are you saying that if the title of the article linked was actually "Homosexual Convicted of Serial Murder and Cannabalism" then that thread title would be ok? I'm actually just curious.

![]() The latter bit cleared up my question. |

If you found an article that's entire gist was that Dahmer was a homosexual cannibal, there'd be two important questions to ask yourself: 1. Why am I sharing this? It's not news. 2. What am I doing reading pjmedia?

You honestly think that 403 doesn't have an agenda and that he isn't switching the title to further that and ruffle a few feathers? Whatever you say.

Hmmmm, maybe I wasn't totally misremembering.http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...stcount= Doctor_Wu Justified & Ancient "My view is that if a thread title is faithful to the topic at hand and is not trolling, then it is ok. The reason people are advised to use the article title is b/c they typically can't prevent themselves from issuing sensational thread titles (which are often trolling). It's like people feel the need to break news and get attention for their thread, so the title is a place where people go beyond the limits of good taste." |

No more than "Homosexual Convicted of Serial Murder and Cannabalism" would be linked to a Dahmer article. Don't you see that both of these examples require you to make a judgement call about the posters agenda and if they are choosing words from an article to further it? Why not simplify things wrt news articles and keep it to exact titles. That way there is no debate, which doesn't belong in a news thread anyway. Just my 2 cents. |
