Send the federal gov't a $100B invoice for the failure to secure the borders which as a result has forced the states residents to cover. I say a collective invoice with Texas and AZ would be fair.
Why can't we go after revenue generation. I say seriously, just let us go bankrupt and let the federal gov't bail us out. All the other states are happy to get cheap produce, just as long as they don't have to foot the bill for illegal immigration. May as well let them pay for it this way ![]() But if that's not an option I say cut baby, cut! It may not be feasible to cut spending only but they need to start there as raising taxes is only a band-aid in the long run and they need to do whatever they can now when they've got the population on board with massive cuts. I was reading something today where a local city wants to spend $400M upgrading schools that teach a total of 12,000 students. Clearly that isn't every year but what in the hell are they spending that kind of money on!?!?!?!?!? How about we don't install the heated toilet seats that automatically clean you and blow your bum dry in school and save a few bucks ya know... Could they really not build a completely new school for $400M that has enough room for 12,000 kids? A classroom of 30 kids somehow costs $1M to build???????? I don't know about your guys schools but mine growing up were nothing more than cinder block construction with one row of windows and two doors. We didn't have A/C but did have heat. Either that or a trailer. No way in hell that costs $1M per classroom and that's even factoring in things like a gym and administration buildings... Being that we are the highest taxed citizens of any state, the taxpayer has already ponied up to the table.
1) Public employee unions need pay, benefit and pension cuts 2) illegal aliens ($10-12 Billion drain a year) -- about 1/2 the annual deficit 3) Prison cost control - why does it cost CA $50K/year to house an inmate while most other big states do it for $25K? 4) The CALPERS (State retirement system) is suppose to support itself, this year the state will pay $6 Billion to CALPERS and an estimate $8 Billion next year. This is double the amount the state contributes to our university system and is about 33% of the annual deficit. Take away #2, #3 and #4 and we'd have no deficit problem. This Dems plan for a compromise 50% tax hikes and 50% cuts is not accurate on face value. The 50% tax cuts are for 1 year and liable to increase in future years. The 50% tax hikes are "temporary" for 5 years. So, the tax hikes add up to an additional $50 - $60 billion over 5 years, while the actual tax cuts amount to $8 Billion. If my math is correct, $50 Billion doesn't equal $8 Billion. Time to stop the war.....on businesses and individual success!

Could cut the prison budget by packing all those without papers into buses and not letting them off until they get to Washington D.C.
Let DC handle the illegal immigration problem, since they created it in the first place. How much you wanna bet the borders will be more secure than Ft. Knox inside a month, if AZ, CA, & TX did that? |
