It is well enough that the people of this nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. -Henry Ford |

I think the big Part of this missing is what were the ROE's for that time? When I was over there for the on set of Iraq. We had the right to engage anything we perceived as a threat.
When we ran convoys in the beginning we ran so many vehicles off the road it was not even something to note anymore on AAR's. Letting another vehicle in your convoy or near it was considered a death wish. There is a reason that all the convoys have signs on them in English and Arabic telling people to give them a 500 ft clearance. There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted
armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter. -- Ernest Hemingway . |

And what changes, exactly, would you like the military to make in a war zone that they were actively fighting combatants? |

From the cover of "Duh" magazine:
Blackwater was CIA's extension, founder Erik Prince admits http://rt.com/usa/blackwater-cia-...rince-273/
So the government is going to prosecute the people who gave the orders, right? This is America -- where military entanglements and drone bombings are done through the CIA so less transparency is required. Joe Biden says Buy a Shotgun! Wackiness ensues! [youtu.be]

![]() The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism',they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened - Norman Thomas,6-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the States, and too much liberty with the Constitution - R. Interesting how their tactics make the libs scream and cry yet keep them and their charges safe.
Blackwater = patriotic Americans doing their duty. Erik Prince for President 2016 "If an American is to amount to anything he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others. He must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can, and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow man a responsibility which is not theirs.” --- Theodore Roosevelt

Or am I dealing with the conservative, "What does not directly affect me and my immediate family does not matter" mindset? Last edited by Rebound; 03-18-2013 at 05:00 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

so, what would be YOUR solution to this quandary? Obviously it wasn't their first choice to do this, so rather than just criticizing from your comfy arm chair, what is YOUR solution to these ambush tactics? |

Wow...just like when you talk about Iraq and wmd's and some mythical obligation of the US to prove something there or when you assert than increased il production is proof of something Obama did or did not do, here you are simply talking about something you have very little knowledge about... How much more vulnerable? Well, lets take six guys, armed with rpgs and two ieds. Intersections are nice little places to box in military personnel in vehicles. Set up shop on the two adjacent corners, ieds packed into two parked vehicles. Two dudes with a rpg each up high above the road. Convoy pulls up to said intersection, ordinary woman steps out in front, convoy stops, said woman is a suicide bomber, detonates herself and ieds, rpgs for clean up and you have a nice little scene...all because the convoy stopped. Now, had the convoy continued to move and the modus operandi were to keep moving, well, a) dudes might have not even tried; or b) once attempted, while one vehicle is whacked out, the other vehicles continue moving to clear area. Not that this hasn't happened already... http://www.albawaba.com/main-head...any-convoy

Don't deny that Rumsfeld said that, and don't deny that he was utterly wrong. They gave enormously large projects to utterly inept people. For example, they put the reconstruction of the stock market and banking system in the hands of a 24 year-old who said that his most interesting job before that was working on an ice cream truck. Reconstruction of the nation's utterly devastated heathcare system was given to a man who didn't even have a medical degree, who's contribution to rebuilding the destroyed hospitals was to put up anti-smoking posters and launch an anti-abortion campaign. The de-Baathification policy ensured that every single person who was a member of Saddam's Baath party was ineligible for government employment. This meant that virtually every university teacher, hospital staffer, police officer and mid-level civil servant was fired, across an entire country. Can you see how badly this destroyed the nation? There was no order whatsoever. You can't make stuff up that is as absurdly wrong as what the Bush Administration did. Read the book; it'll really open your eyes.
