Not to play semantics, but you're debating whether it's widespread. He however is stating that there is fraud, which a voter ID would help reduce. Surely it wouldn't eliminate it, but it would surely reduce the likelihood of it at the polls.

First, everyone needs to stop mixing up voter fraud and voter impersonation

voter fraud is real and DOES happen (often with absentee ballots), voter impersonation is a type of voter fraud that happens extremely rarely

Its easy to steal eric holders ballot because you know when he is not in his voting precinct, you know his voting precinct, you know where he lives. Notice how you have to provide the address of the person youre impersonating. The amount of information you have to have about someone is staggering to do this.

As soon as you apply logic to this conspiracy theory that widespread voter impersonation is occurring it falls apart

The amount of money and information required to bus a bunch of people around on voting day to get people to cast ballots in the names of others is STAGGERING.

Yes, it would, the problem is its going to cost $100,000,000+ to make voter IDs for the 21 million americans of voting age who do not have voter IDs. As fiscal conservatives it should be a case of "wow, this is nowhere near widespread enough to warrant such a cost"
