North Carolina Voters pass Same Sex Marriage Ban

It's about time. Passed in a landslide.

Unfortunate, but ultimately a temporary 'victory' for same-sex opponents. In 20-30 years, most if not all of these state amendments will be reversed anyway. I do question the wisdom of aligning this vote to coincide with a primary rather than a general election. It seems like more Republicans would be voting simply because they have a presidential primary campaign (albeit, it is practically over now).

Proponents of the interracial marriage ban would also have described there amendment as a 'clarification' because prior to its passing, interracial marriages would have been unheard of in NC.

I thought that in 20-30 years, European Christians would be a minority. And that can be a tricky spot to be in. Just go ask "the Others".

If they are not anti-gay why ban civil unions, or domestic partnerships? Domestic partnerships protect the rights of gay couples without calling it marriage. They don't even have that right with this amendment. This is very anti-gay.
