I can't believe you guys think that minor regulation to discourage what leads to very expensive and debilitating disease is a bad thing.

I don't care if people don't care if they develop diabetes and look gross. They should be discouraged in minor ways such as this one. Yes, "tyranny" is good when it's used for good. They need to be educated and discouraged from harmful behavior even when it's only harming themselves. If it harms one, it harms all (in a dilute way).

Bet you guys don't like seatbelt laws either, but they save lives and that's more important than ultimate liberty.

I'm all for seatbelt laws, and will report a parent not putting a child in a carseat faster than you can blink, but banning things isn't the solution. Didn't work for alcohol, doesn't work for drugs, and won't work for "sugary" drinks. If lawmakers really wanted to do something, they would remove the stranglehold that Big Corn has on our food supply. That would be a better use of legislation than what Bloomberg proposes.

When you criminalize sugary drinks over 16 ounces, only criminals will have sugary drinks over 16 ounces.

Strawman to suggest the only valid way to do good is through new laws and restrictions or that people that value freedom will not do good.
