CCW Holder Kills Door-To-Door Salesman

Must be another one of those "law abiding CCW holders" eh? If he wasn't granted a CCW permit, he may have not been ballsy enough to store his loaded weapon outside his home and thus another innocent person would still be alive today. Hell this guy should have gone under some sort of mental evaluation before even being allowed to purchase a gun...and yes he should have paid for his own mental evaluation, not the government

And we have an outlier. He's obviously crazy, and this is where better reporting of mental conditions would have potentially saved lives. His CCW had little to do with the situation. You can carry a loaded pistol in your glovebox in Florida all the live long day if you want without a permit. The man obviously has a mental defect that went untreated and unreported. If it had been noticed and he was adjudicated mentally defective, this would be a non-issue as he'd be barred from possessing firearms.

Whats scary is these people who have guns on their person and are adamant that theyre within the law and as a result take a 100% innocent persons life.

You have a much much higher chance of running into someone who is mentally ill with a gun on them who thinks theyre acting within the law than you do a blood thirsty criminal. Thats whats scary to normal citizens. The ease at which the batman shooter and this guy can obtain guns.

We need to figure out something to do for instances like this. People obviously thought he was crazy and probably knew he had firearms. If questions arise, to bad people can't be required to take a psychological exam.

As for the CCW, that doesn't make much difference in this instance. I know multiple people that carry guns in their vehicles and do not have a CCW. The laws are fairly lax when it comes to firearms in the vehicle in FL.

Should we now link to the thousands of stories where a ccw could have possibly saved a life? I mean, seriously? This guy was crazy no doubt, but hey, lets ban all weapons because we know that will stop all the instances, right? It worked in Chicago

I doubt this is true by a longshot. However, I will be open minded and wait for your evidence before dismissing this as hyperbole.

95% of those killed by guns last year in Philadelphia were already criminals. Basically your chances of getting shot are so very small unless you are already leading a life of crime that its insignificant. The often referred to scenarios of criminals shooting people at gun point after robbing them, or shooting them in their own homes, is the hyperbole.

WTF does this have to do with making guns less accessible for mentally ill people... are you worried that you will lose your gun because youre mentally ill or something?

Yet those things occur. However, 403 made a specific claim that can be tested statistically, unlike your vague 'very small' and 'insignificant' statements.

I dont know looks like the neighborhood nailed it by labeling him the neighborhood crazy considering he shot an innocent man in the head. Most sane people have a good idea of what "insane" behavior looks like, which would then prompt government investigating that person to see if they were really insane or not... that way Mr. Rainey would be alive right now.

Exactly how would that translate into him buying guns? are you advocating psych evaluations for all gun owners? I guess we need to blame the neighbors for not alerting the govt? The over reacting is amazing on the left..... He was nuts, no doubt, but that doesn't mean the gov't could have done anything to stop this tragedy...
