Have to admit I very much envy someone who gave up ~$250k just to prop up the effective tax rate on their return. Call me a hater.

Actually if you the math, it's even more ridiculous. He gave up $250k just to show an effective tax rate of 14% instead of 12%. Romney is stuntin' harder than 50 Cent.

If only we could see what he did before he was running for POTUS.

Put aside running for president, I don't see Romney creating any Jobs in the last 4 years he sat around waiting for another chance to run.

What a strange and obviously political move. Does his campaign even have a non-political justification for why he would voluntarily give up ~$250k? And does anyone doubt he will be filing an Income Tax adjustment after November 7 to recoup this 'voluntary tax'.

An interesting point on that tax accountant link is that the average effective rate over the past 20 years was 20%.

Since he paid more taxes than legally due, by his own standards, he is not qualified to be POTUS.

That is an interesting gotcha comment but no one is commenting on what Rmoney meant when he said if he paid more than legally owed he would not be qualified to be president. Just what does that mean? Why did Rmoney mean?

As an aside I hope this comment by Rmoney would put an end to the stoopid retort by many when they say "if you support increase in taxes you should voluntarily pay extra taxes."

IMO, he was trying to turn his low tax rate liability into an advantage by claiming it showed how smart he was. And a lot of his anti-tax cohorts will agree with that, since they think everyone should only pay 13% or less.

But now he paid extra to keep from violating his assertion that he never paid less than 13%.

He should have gotten over this tax thing a long time ago. Just own up to what you paid and make no apologies. I'd have more respect if he did that instead of trying to hide things.

Aren't right wingers going on and on about how tax rate is too high? Well is 14% tax rate too high? Oh right lets shift the argument to "well people should keep ALL the money they earn and we'll run the goobernment on wishful thinking".
