"but I can't imagine Obama has a chance of winning unless they are really really kind"
Apparently there are people who literally believe that a pretty smart guy from harvard law can't conceivably win a debate/argument. It's unclear where anybody ever got the idea that a free market results in low prices when the entire point of capitalism is to maximize profit and low prices are less profitable. Therefore the natural proclivity should be to collude and fix prices at the highest sustainable point.
Oh, it's illegal to collude and fix prices and whatnot as deemed by the gubmint? Who are they to say how a free market should work when it's a matter of divinity per Adam Smith whose book nobody bothered to read? |

I doubt the debates will be interesting. The 0bama camp is downplaying expectations. The media will lob 0bama a bunch of softball questions. Romney won't take the gloves off because his focus groups tell him that alienates independents. Barring a Rick Perry moment from one of the candidates, I don't expect much.
"If an American is to amount to anything he must rely upon himself, and not upon the State; he must take pride in his own work, instead of sitting idle to envy the luck of others. He must face life with resolute courage, win victory if he can, and accept defeat if he must, without seeking to place on his fellow man a responsibility which is not theirs.” --- Theodore Roosevelt

This debate should be an easy one for Obama if he is well prepared.
Romney can't "take the gloves off" because he doesn't have any punches. What would he "hit" Obama with? Affordable care act? Auto bailout that worked? The economy that he already admits is recovering under Obama? Deficit spending? Patriot act? About the best he can do is be "not Obama" for the GOP base and tell independents that he can boost the ongoing recovery. Hope they haven't noticed that he has noticed that he hasn't laid out an argument for "how." TIP: To avoid the stigma of literacy, listen to audio books. |

Add to that the abject failure of 0bama's foreign policies, the US credit rating being cut, abandonment of Israel, etc.

The joke is funny because Obama was voted in with overwhelming support, to cure the cancer of the Bush administration. It's still quite apropos even for those who don't particular like Obama. |
