Going back to the original AWB, when she helped orchestrate dog and pony shows at police gun ranges, having officers fire fully automatic real AK47's at cinder blocks, and chewing them up with magazine after magazine, to show how "powerful" and "deadly" "assault weapons" were. (Leaving out of course that any cartridge will chew up cinder blocks). And it's the same pattern that causes Carolyn McCarthy to demand her legislation banning "barrel shrouds" be passed, when she had no idea what one was [youtube.com].

I know to the anti gun faithful, accuracy and honesty aren't important, but don't expect the rest of us to just roll over.

Grandmother Killed 2 Children, Herself: Cops [nbcconnecticut.com]

A grandmother who was supposed to take her two grandsons from daycare to their birthday party at home instead killed the boys and herself, Connecticut state police said.

All three bodies were found in a car Tuesday evening, two hours after an Amber Alert went out for the 2-year-old and 6-month-old. Police have classified the case as a double murder-suicide and said all three had apparent gunshot wounds, according to state police.

The news today was talking about Diane Feinstein and the congressional hearing today. They showed part of the video she showed of "semi-auto assault weapons to be banned." Sure enough, cut to a guy on a gun range unleashing full-auto onto a target.

During the run-up to the CA ban in 89, they did those dog and pony shows on a daily basis, covered by various medias, always using real machine guns, and always shooting up something fragile and easily broken apart. They were able to convince a large percentage of the non-thinkers that assault weapons were "more powerful" than regular guns. You still see some of our resident anti-gun enthusiasts parroting that absurdity.

I can't imagine what it would be like to take a position that required me to accept lies, that I knew to be lies, and re-tell them as often as I can.

What about the Reason poll that said a majority of American's don't want an 'assault weapons' ban? What about their additional polling which suggested that a large percent of people polled didn't know what an 'assault weapon' was? Does your 55% include people who think 'assault weapon' refers to full auto machine guns?

Reason asked 500 people what is an 'assault weapon'. Here is what they said about the results:

So you are saying 55% of American's want an assault weapon's ban yet 25% think an assault weapon is a machine gun. Do you think they just mean a ban on the sale of machine guns to the public or a ban on ownership?

It's not a mater of honesty as you are attempting to frame it. It's a matter of knowing about the subject. Many people can honestly think antibiotics will cure a viral infection. Does that mean we should do what they say?

I agree, looks like a machine gun to me. How do you make it illegal though? It's one thing to say it should be illegal. It's another to write a law that makes it happen.
