You have argued that the 2A is the red-headed step child of the BOR that uniquely does not recognize an individual right in that the phrase "the right of the people" apparently means something different than other places in the same document containing that phrase. You have argued that the 2A is an orange in an otherwise bucket of apples (the BOR). You have argued that the BOR is a bill of privileges that can be revoked by the federal government. Your opinion on this issue is clear and apparently fixed. |

I have not per se argued those but rather said I am not sure about them. I have also given some arguments for my doubts. For example, the prominent mentioned of militia and state in the 2ndA could change the meaning of "people" in that amendment wrt others. Also, my opinion on this subject is NOT fixed. (Is yours?) BTW: do you claim the BOR are not subject to SCOTUS interpretation or subject to amendments? |

Personally, I'm interested in keeping other people from building Utopia, because the more you believe you can create heaven on earth the more likely you are to set up guillotines in the public square to hasten the process. -- James Lileks

Some of those same posters continue to rail about gun shows and UBGC's. Ironic, eh? “Don’t go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.”

I saw a particularly interesting quote from Samuel Adams: "How strangely will the Tools of a Tyrant pervert the plain Meaning of Words!" It is fairly easy to figure out what any of the amendments meant as they were written by reading the documents that those who organized the amendments wrote, and other contemporary writings which inspired them. The only reason not to do that is if you don't want to know. Courts have agreed that the right to bear arms 1) applies to individuals, 2) applies in states and federal districts alike, and 3) applies both inside and outside the home. |

Also, I asked many other pointed questions, none of which you answered. BOR, on the other is for reals. It is objectively discoverable. And it has the backing of the government and of the people behind them. I am conformable with accepting those and ignoring these so called natural rights. |
