Just saw this promotion confirmed, winner every 10 minutes like previous promos. Official rules page doesn't seem to be active yet but here's what we know so far:
Beginning Aug. 31, each Taco Bell® $5 Box will include a unique code for consumers to text in for a chance to win the new Xbox One X. The Taco Bell $5 Box includes the new Steak Quesarito, a Doritos® Locos Taco, a Crunchy Taco and a medium fountain drink. Boxes will be available during the promotion from Aug.31 to Oct. 4 at participating Taco Bell locations while supplies last. No purchase necessary. See below for details.

"It's only fitting that the two brands that do 'boxes' best and have some of the greatest fans in the world have joined forces to box up the ultimate food and gaming offer for them," said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer, Taco Bell Corp. "We see this partnership with Xbox as yet another way Taco Bell is tapping what is current in culture and providing our fans access to unique experiences they cannot get anywhere else."

Throughout the duration of the promotion, a potential winner will be notified on an average of every 10 minutes. Winners will be the first to win the Xbox One X, and will also win the Forza Motorsport 7 game and a three-month Xbox Game Pass subscription along with their console. Whether you're a gaming fan, a Taco Bell fan, or just hoping to get lucky, start counting down the days until Aug. 31.

Taco Bell and Xbox first partnered to launch the original Xbox in 2001, and are returning to their roots with this promotion to launch the Xbox One X. After all, it's only fitting to pair the powerful flavor of the Steak Quesarito with the world's most powerful console.

"When it launches starting Nov. 7, Xbox One X will bring gamers an amazing new level of console power and immersion," said Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Xbox. "We have a long history of partnerships with Taco Bell, dating back to the first Xbox, and are excited to once again work together to reward gamers with the opportunity to win Xbox One X."

No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning a prize. The Taco Bell® and Xbox® Game starts on 8/31/17 at 12:00 AM ET and ends on 10/4/17 at 11:59:59 PM ET. See Official Rules at www.tacobell.com/xbox for details on how to enter without a purchase, prize details, restrictions, and terms and conditions of participation. Open only to legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and DC, 18 years or older at time of entry. Void where prohibited. By texting the short code, you are providing your signed consent to receive autodialed text messages related to the promotion. Consent to receive text messages is not required or a condition of any purchase. Msg & Data rates may apply for each text message sent and received. To cancel, send STOP to 72823 (confirmation text will be sent). For help, send HELP to 72823. Check wireless plan for details. A potential winner will be notified on average every 10 minutes during the promotion. Sponsors: Taco Bell Corp., Irvine, CA and Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA.

So it looks like I'll be purchasing 31 post cards. How many stamps are required for each post card? I might just purchase a roll of 100. Can we send them before the start date? I emailed support and haven't received a reply regarding that
You only need 22. There's an online code starting on Sept 22nd.

I remember one year one of these instant wins had that rule. I'm not sure if it wasTaco Bell or Subway. Either way, I'm not wasting my postcards by having them rejected for having a postdate prior to the 21st.

Get postcard stamps. They are cheaper than the normal stamps.

Anyone know if you can successfully request multiple people with different email addresses to the same postal address?

In the event that a household plays the Game using more than five (5) unique e-mail addresses, all of the Game Plays associated with that household (determined by Sponsors or Administrator in their sole discretion) may be disqualified. Regardless of method of entry, each entrant/household is not eligible to win more than one (1) prize.

Hope this answers your question. Confused

Guessing all the manual postcard labor is worth it rather than just buying the boxes or doing the free codes?
It's always odd when people ask if it's worth it. The only real answer is: if you win.

If you win, it was worth it. If you don't it was a waste of money and time.

Look at it as increasing your personal pool of codes. You might still not win, but at least you have a slightly better chance and more importantly you don't have to deal with employees claiming your codes ahead of time or pulling the "bags only" trick like previous years so they can walk off with your box.

Sounds worth it to me.

Hopefully like the Gold PS4 Sony/Taco Bell gave away(not sure about the PSVR giveaway) the winners will get the standard 1 year warranty issued through Microsoft since it's not an actual purchase. I'd be awful to win and get a lemon or it break in a month or two and have a brick, be stuck with just a controller, Forza Motorsport 7, 3 month subscription to Xbox Game Pass with an ARV of $589. That could end up being a PR nightmare if some arrived or broke quickly. I'm not a fan of early adoptting consoles after the X360 RROD/E74 problems and buying a PS4 that died in 5 months of release, was replaced with a new PS4(different serial #) and died again 1-1/2 later thankfully under 3 year extended warranty(sold, lol).

Yeah I had some bad luck with PS4.Frown Told a lot of PS4 owners about the problems I had(Turning on/off/ejecting discs by itself, I think it was haunted, lol). Bought my 3 year warranty with MCR gift cards, sold that sucker 6 months before the warranty expired last year for $250, now you can get them for that price(WIN!) I've won two X1s though on Twitter, one via MLG(Day 1 edition with Kinect) the other via Battlefield at Easter(a 1TB BF1 Edition) from uploading BF1 gameplay. Still would like another PS4 when more exclusives release. I'd like to win an X1X from Taco Bell too!!! Wink
