Glad to see this deal is back. I bought one back in November at this price. It's an excellent value for the price.

There is one small caveat to this server: If you look at images of the motherboard you'll see that it does have an m.2 slot; however that m.2 slot is disabled by Dell in every BIOS revision past 1.0.2. You can track down the 1.0.2 BIOS to enable the m.2 (but of course you then lose the benefits of running the most recent BIOS) if you want. Be aware that the m.2 does not support NGFF m.2 drives that are SATA based. It supports NVME m.2 drives that are PCIE based.
Sleep mode is only supported by BIOS 1.0.0. Since this is intended for use as a server that's not exactly a feature that their targeted customer is looking for.

Was thinking about one of these for Blue Iris (and maybe plex if it would handle that).

So I think I've been out of the SSD game for a while - last one I purchased was a Samsung EVO 850 a few years ago for my current PC. I guess the new SSD's make use of the m.2 slot and would make things a little faster? So you have to decide older bios where you get m.2 support versus newer bios? What are most people doing?

If I want to add 4 3.5" HDDs, does this come with both the cages and drive rails or is there a need to go buy additional cage and/or rails?

I'm running a similar machine as my Plex server and it's great. Installed an old copy of Win7 I wasn't using anymore. Very solid. Plenty of drive spaces and SATA ports, 4 DIMM slots, and Gb NIC. This is a great buy. Thanks OP

It has six bays, but 4 SATA ports. It also has 4 DIMM slots, even though the pic of the motherboard shows only 2. I believe the rails and cages are there for 4 drives, but two are used by the HD and DVD. My two extra drives are just standing next to each other on one of the horizontal drives, not attached to anything except the SATA and power cable. haha

As an aside: I would chat with a CS rep to confirm the available slots/bays. I have had them sometimes change from unit to unit, having bought some within a few months of each other. Sometimes they make changes.

Do you know if this supports S3 Standby/sleep mode? I want to use it as a regular desktop, and I remember the Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 had S3 Standby disabled.
