As a former ski bum, I would say that Patagonia is a step above TNF. Not a huge step, but a step up. It's not Arc'teryx, but it's a bit better.

If you're just buying jackets for your kids to take to school, either one will be more than sufficient.

I find that the quality is better for most of their products. We easily get 2-3 kids through each garment due to that quality. The fit is usually about 1/2 size larger than TNF for our kids (TNF wms med = Pat wms Small)

How is this brand quality compared to north face? Plan to stock up some winter jackets for my son but can't decide which brand. Any comment or opinion is appreciated and repped.

Like any company, individual products will vary so do your research. However, Patagonia's technical gear is just as good if not better than North Face.

I own both and prefer Patagonia. TNF's quality is widely considered to have gone downhill in recent years.

Patagonia> The North Face> Columbia. Columbia stuff is ok, but Patagonia quality is much much better. I donated my Columbia fleece and upgraded to a Patagonia one.

Thank you everyone for responding to my posts. If you look at your profile, you will see that I give rep to everyone of you. I plan to bring my son to visit Toronto later on (around fall/winter time), I will buyer Patagonia jacket and hope it will keep him warm.
