Credit Card car rental insurance coverage closed my case without helping me. Help!

879 156 May 24, 2018 at 10:59 AM
I rented a car in france from Avis (Avoid them at all costs!). When I returned the car, they
had 3 people looking all over the car one after the other. Finally, one of the girls knelt down and said there is a scratch underneath the front bumper.
She charged me for $350+ for this scratch. One of the other girls used her feet to lightly kick the door during the inspection!

I know they are scamming me so I filed a complaint to my credit card company. AT&T Universal. They are supposed to have car rental insurance when I used them to rent the car!
But after submitting all my documents, the 'eclaims line' that handles the claims keep asking me to submit more documents. But I have submitted everything!!!

Now I checked my status and my case is 'closed' and they are not refunding me what Avis charged me for the 'scratch' on the bottom of the bumper!

What can I do? I can't even find out where to give AT&T universal card's car insurance a review!

When I rent a car, I always take pictures all around of the entire car. Sometimes scratches in the paint are hard to see if car is a little dirty, but it's your responsibility to check entire car and have them note any imperfections.

Contact CC company and see if they can assist you further. Your car insurance company could pay the claim also, but you may have a deductible.

I wouldn't file a car insurance claim over $350.

Contact Avis corporate. Sometimes these European scammers try to get away with murder knowing you're not in the country to fight it. Unfortunately the French "legal" system has a penchant for siding with the locals and ruling against foreigners out of spite and orneriness.

I'd call (on the phone) your credit card company and get them to tell you exactly what else they want from you. Don't let 'em off the hook. They have people who are paid to fight these scammers.

Good luck with these sleazeballs. Shame the particular Avis location on TripAdvisor, etc., so they can't screw other people.

Only after you've done all this should you resort to arson.

So... did you cause the scratch? You never really said one way or the other. And why wasn't the $350 charge discussed at AVIS when you returned it?

qplr

and...

Facepalm Those girls weren't Avis employees. They were ...uhh..."working girls". That's how they operate in France now since the authorities have been cracking down on prostitution there.

A "scratch under the front bumper" is just a euphemism for something a little more pleasurable. You paid $350 for it but never collected.

Created a thread about cars & doesn't bother mentioning make & model. Rented a "car"? Obviously his whole story is bullshit lol @ France, no wonder the United States has to bail France & England out of every war.

Most companies are using women instead of men to scam people. Because they know people are too afraid to speak against women.

So much for gender-equal society.

Justin Trudeau said your comment was offensive toward women.
