Just noticed that Amex Offers [amexoffers.com] has a deal with Thermoworks. Spend $75 and get $15. YMMV.

Thermoworks is a very well respected company that is most well known for their instant-read food/meat thermometers, particularly the Mk4 and the Classic Thermapen.

Right now, they're having a 3 day sale for their Classic Thermopen, which has the same technology as their top of the line Mk4 with the exception of the screen/rotation upgrades and the use of a coin battery. The Classic Thermopen is $59 instead of $79.

Note, Thermoworks regularly has sales. The lowest price in recent history on an Mk4 Thermopen was on Apr 12 when they had a limited sale for $75. Since this offer doesn't expire for a while, I would recommend waiting for a good sale to stack, or picking up another item with the Classic.

There are many lookalikes, ie on Amazon, but Thermoworks is distinguished by having one of the fastest and most accurate instant read thermometers due to their use of thermocouples. Here's a Wirecutter review [thewirecutter.com] about instant thermometers. They also have a variety of probes/cooking alarms useful for those who bake or smoke foods. Thermoworks products are only sold directly from their website.

For reference, I have the Amex Blue Cash Everyday.

I use the chefalarm, works great. Temps are spot on. If you want something that is wireless you'd need either the smoke or thermaq.

Be careful with Thermoworks. Mine quit working after minimal use, and even though they themselves said the symptoms sounded like water damage and admitted that it was mislabeled as being waterproof, they only offered to replace it because I was "helpful" in pointing out their error, not because they made an error and therefore they should replace it. The rep basically made a point of indirectly saying that it was my fault, even though they mislabeled it, and made it sound like they were doing me a favor in offering to replace it. I bought a different brand instead. They also removed my negative review from their website.

Anyone have both this and the thermopop?

I'm really happy with the Thermopop, but will consider upgrading if it's worth it

For most, Thermopop, a bit slower and less accurate than its big brothers, will get the job done at half the price.

These are great thermometers and last for several years. It gets temperatures in an instant and along with my knives are used daily.

I've avoided so many undercooked and overcooked foods using this device.

Thanks! Got the $59 pen and leather case for it... Essentially a free leather case lol. Should protect it from other things in my drawer.
