Thanks OP!
I got my $1 dot and a $24 dot on BF. I love them, if I didn't have these two already I'd go for this deal.
Only issue I've had so far is that it doesn't seem to want to stay connected to 5Ghz band. Works fine on 2.4

Basically, they will give you $5 for each 2nd gen echo dot you mail back, they pay for shipping of course. Also, you'll give a 25% discount toward the purchase of a 3rd gen. If you just wanted one, $29.99 - 25% - $5 account credit is $18 for a sing, additional savings for a double. You get a couple weeks to mail back the old one, so it's not a mail back and wait for the discount situation, you get everything up front for the promise you'll mail it back and you can use the same box the new one comes in.
I only needed to upgrade one, but it is a nice deal for multiple if you are upgrading anyway.
2. Whether or not you use the available features is a personal decision. Ring doesn't give you the option.
3. Again, less options.
4. Ring has no way to give you better quality. Less options, less futureproof.
5. But it's not available now, and perhaps never will be. Why limit yourself?
6. It seems like all of your points are self defeating, but if you like Ring better, enjoy.
2. Huh? Same can be said for Nest. Nest doesn't give you the option to only record when there's motion.
3. Ring just added a new scrolling timeline to its app.
4. Nest doesn't allow better quality than the default either. They only allow you to turn down the quality to save on internet, which is only necessary if you're recording 24/7.
5. Because Ring's services are wayyyyyy cheaper than Nest's? I can sacrifice a minor feature or two.
