How would I know it's still the same quality they had in the past (i.e. before they changed their warranty policy)? Moreover, how do I know they didn't they change the policy just to sell more product?
Look, they are a business, I get it. They exist to make a profit they deem acceptable and I, as a consumer, will spend what I deem as acceptable for a product a company sells. I paid more in the past because of the warranty that is not cheap to maintain. But I know it will be there when I need it. Just because I didn't use that warranty in that year, I know when sheit happens, it'll be there for me Without that, then they are just another standard company, so why would I pay full price for the item? What makes more sense to me is to find another company to replace them.
Note: they recently ended their lifetime warranty program. :'-(
Yes, they did so you, as a smart consumer, must adjust your price / value expectations accordingly as well. For example, I wouldn't bat an eye on spending a $200 LL Bean coat in the past when they had lifetime warranty because I know some of that money was put into their awesome service. True, I've never had to use their warranty service but it was good to know it was there . Now, I will not pay more than $70 for that same coat and I'd probably have to really think about it before I do purchase (i.e. use that $70 to buy a $200 coat at a company that has good warranty).

so you wouldn't pay more than $75 on a jacket that you would never need to replace? You admit the quality is worth $200 but you wouldn't spend more than $75, got it. You realize they had to do away with lifetime warranties because of people taking advantage of it?

It's my understanding that the warranty was changed to prevent people from bringing second hand items in store and getting a brand new item. I own a number of bean items and I've never had to use their warranty. I buy their clothing because it lasts forever.

Really, that was a reason why I bought overpriced parka two years ago, now my zipper is falling apart.
