New here, does "Q" represent coupon and what is the best way to save these on your phone? I was thinking about pulling up this link especially for the free items and showing them on my phone. Will that work because I printed off the free item coupons and they print out pretty large. Also, will they expect multiple "free item" coupons in one purchase?

There's been a few reported incidents of cashiers and maybe some managers not accepting Q's that are obviously printed from your computer. As for me, I've never had an issue even with some single Q's that take up half a letter size page. Besides, I'm not sure how else they expect me to use a Q they sent me in an email. Best thing to do, at least as a backup, is save the Q to your phone if you have the ability to do so. This way they must take it (now a company policy) and you also don't forfeit your Q to them. All that is really needed is the number associated with the bar code. Technically, you could show up at the register with a hand written piece of paper (or do it by memory or list it on your phone...) and give the code to the cashier. If the Q code is valid for your purchase then ba-da-bing!
Limit should be 1 free item and 1 percent off coupon per purchase (and obviously for each item, only 1 coupon may be applied).

I now go in normally with my list as (and no issues if computer says valid (& applicable):
coupon code, item description, item code(s), price.

Wow. So how much was the Craftsman saw? There's a $119.99 coupon for the Harbor Freight saw (attached)
It was $85 but I got it down to $50 + tax (had to mess around a bit with Sears checkout), but I might return it and look for a deal on a slider.

Btw this is the thread if anyone is interested in getting the saw for $50-$55. Basically, you buy 3 saws, use the coupon code, pickup 1 in store and have the other 2 shipped (free) then return those. Probably only worth it if you have a sears close by as I do. But like I said, this is the exact same saw as HF sells but it's 1yr warranty vs 90 days.

Having a 10" non-slider single miter and a 7-1/4" circular saw, I'd say a sliding 7-1/4" is certainly not the same as the 10" slider but it depends on the dimensions of your cut. My 10" will make some deep cuts in 1 pass that the 7-1/4" can't but the 7-1/4" (depending on slide length) can make equal or larger wide cuts on thinner material in 1 sliding pass.
Thx that makes sense, it won't cut as deep but will cut equal or better length right? Guess I'll need a 10" if I ever get around to building a fence or deck (for the 4x4 posts).

Yes, some of us use the letter Q as shorthand for coupon.

This is all dependent on what type of phone and service\plan you have - Option 1 - You can browse it on your computer then attach it in an email where you can access it on your phone (if capable). Option 2 - Browse this thread through your phone and save the coupons directly to it. Option 3 - Browse from your computer, save the file there then transfer (via USB\bluetooth\IR\wireless...) to your phone. There are more ways to do it but those come to mind first. The only thing they actually need from the coupon is a valid code (number under the bar code) when redeeming from your phone.

I've never had an issue at my store with "giant" printed coupons that were obviously from my computer. Seems it's very dependent on your local store\cashier\manager. You can search this thread for "coupon policy" and see many entries with great information regarding this topic.

If you read the fine print on the free items (highly recommended for ALL coupons) it says "Limit one coupon per customer per day." Technically, you could go back and make another purchase later that day and, as long as you use a different free item coupon, you would not be violating their conditions. I'm not necessarily advocating this but I also can't say that I've never done it before either. As always, YMMV.

Here is a link to the SD New User Guide. It is very helpful and despite the fact that I've been a SD'er for a couple years now, I still reference it first when I have questions. Very good info, even for those seasoned vets out here. The Wiki (located on the very first page of this thread) also has a great deal of information and links specific to HF and this thread. Kudos to the OP (Original Poster <-- the one who started this thread) Dumpsterdiver (aka Dd) and all those who contribute to and maintain it!

That's the point. My 10" single bevel compound miter saw (inherited; Craftsman 113.234651 and looks a lot like 113.234610)also has a depth-adjustable fence (two depths): rear for wider cuts of thinner material and front for deep cuts of narrower material or miter cuts of 2x4s w/o loosening the fence. Mine will perfectly do a finish cut 4x4 in the front (deep) position or leave a tiny nub (I believe in the front) when in the rear (wide) position. With the fence adjusted for deep cuts, it'll do a 90x90 single pass on a 4x4.

If I were to bother with spending money, I'd love to grab a 12" double bevel sliding compound miter saw like HFT #69684 [harborfreight.com] (~120 for today OR by a coupon posted here in the last 2 weeks) on my Ridgid MS-UV.(a combination miter saw stand/miter saw cart). $80 for something that will "just do" for this project or $120 for something that should take care of any future project? I'll spend the $120. This is actually a part of how I inherited the Craftsman as my dad upgraded to a DeWalt comparable to HFT #69684.

Side note: the electric brake is a nice bonus safety feature but NEVER EVER depend on it as my Craftsman's brake circuit is unreliable (works ~75% of the time). ALWAYS practice safety common sense.

Thx, it's on sale right sale for $120 on the website but I can't seem to get a 20% or 25% Q to work.

That saw is part of this weekend's parking lot sale. The % off coupon excludes parking lot items.

Gourty, I'm so surprised to see that you've never done it before.

It's 100 miles round trip to my nearest HF so I have to make it worth the while when I go. I typically do 3 different orders (for me and the 2 guys at work - wink, wink) and I have coupons for absolutely every item I'm purchasing. Plus I always get a "free item" with each order.

Knock on wood, but I've never had a problem.

I've even had luck the last 2 visits using ITC coupons. Seems they must figure that if you have the coupon you must be a member.

Wink To qualify that jw, I can't say that I endorse the process of applying the same Q twice in one day (you know, the corporate policy and everything...) but that's not to say I've never done it. Typically, I make sure to use a different cashier and a different Q (maybe a flashlight one time and screwdrivers or the meter the next). As with you, I always have a Q for the items I purchase and there is always a free item with every purchase. One day I even pulled off a grand slam in a half hour (4 purchases w\4 free items) but I don't make that a habit. Know your environment, look for cashier changes and try not to be too obvious. You're not doing anything illegal but getting the most from every purchase is imperative. My big advantage over you is my distance to the store (less than 10 minutes from work - about 50 minutes from home).

I will credit you for going into uncharted territory for me with the ITC Q's though. Haven't tried that yet but it is more a case of not finding the right Q for the purchase. One day I'll venture into the unknown and feel the exhilaration of being completely invincible like you. For now I lay in wait and plot my next purchase (aka sinister move). Mu hahahahahahaha!

Agreed genec. I have the setup of which you speak on the 1st gen MSUV except in the single bevel model of the 12". Fortunately for me I bought the 2 year replacement plan so when this goes bad (which it will in less than 2 years) I hope to be replacing it with the 12" double bevel version. It's the only one I see on the site at the moment so I don't know how they will get around giving me the double unless there is an old single bevel on hand at that time. I will make sure I call and check their stock of each before I go, regardless. >> Cat Skinning 101.5 <<

Tip for you. First Q is the original, second is after scissors. Wink

Print out in B&W so the color part doesn't stick out.

Purchased this cable this weekend.

Haha nice. I went back and re-read your post about getting the saw for parking lot sale price plus 20% Q the day b4 sale, too bad I missed it this time. I'll remember to check next time around and hopefully there will be a valid 25% Q floating around then also.
