I don't know if I've ever seen it really discounted. I've had good success with pocket holes using the cheap Kreg kit and clamps. It cost about $20.

Anyone have the 90 amp flux welder? Any thoughts? The reviews on hf site are overall pretty good, but I know sometimes they remove a few of the bad reviews to boost the ratings. 81$ seems like a good price

Just a couple of hints for now. Your light nominally runs at 4.5V. Measure the three batteries in series, and it is closer to 5V.

The large section of the light draws about 250mA, or one quarter of an ampere for the mathematically-challenged. The 3 light piece draws about 50-60mA.

So, a 2A power supply will run eight of these large lights. If it runs a little too bright (much higher than 5V) you may have to change the resistor to bring it down a bit. But they seem to run pretty long with no trouble. YMMV.

.

John

Oh, and I see I forgot you were talking 12V battery-powered. You can also buy a small module on ebay for about a buck that knocks the 12V down to 5V, with efficiency. If you did that with just a dropping resistor, you're wasting power as heat.

John
John - thanks for kick starting my brain - I haven't used it in awhile.

I took a 12 v HF universal battery - ( the ones for a drill w/ the sub C in them. Hooked up 3 blues lights in Series and it's been going for the past 2 hours on the 124 LED setting. I even hooked up 4 blue lights at high and it still seemed really strong. But for some reason when I tried checking the Amps on the draw ( hooking up one probe on the + batter and the other on the last neg on the blue light and at 10 amp setting it was showing .11 I did it using AAA batteries in a stand alone blue light on high and it was .53

Just a crude experiment with the LED Lights. I'm no expert so do at your own risk.

hooked up 4 in parallel hooked to a phone charger 5volts 1amp.
Mounted one of the free magnetic bars on the wall to hold the lights. Tested in a 15' x 15' room mounted on opposite wall.

For the shed you can hook up a pull switch to turn on/off.
Nice pic - I noticed when I had 3 or 4 together in series - if I just tuned off one of the end lights - they all went off.

Nice use of the free bar too., thanks

Need your guys' opinion on air compressors. My 10 year old 6 gal one finally bit the dust...motor siezed up. Whatever, I'm going to toss it; I've wanted a bigger compressor anyways. I do a lot of air paint gun work...spray the house exterior, fences, furniture, etc. My little compressor couldn't keep up with it. I also do a bit of air impact wrench and ratchet on my vehicle. Which compressor would you recommend for these uses? Here's the top few I'm looking at:

Or are harbor freight compressors not that great of quality?

My father has the 4th one, very happy.

http://www.harborfreight.com/29-g...0%3D%0D%0A is another good choice

The oilless compressors are very loud and not as reliable.

I have the 20-something gallon, $150-with-coupon one. It's worked well for me for about four years of intermittent use. The only issue I've had is that the built-in circuit breaker went bad.

I've used intermittently but sometimes with pretty heavy use (it's not rated for continuous operation). I've painted stuff, construction, cleaning with air, used it to power air hammers and scrapers for long periods of time. I'm happy with it.

Very good, thanks for the input guys. I'll try to avoid the oilless ones. I didn't realize they weren't as reliable (although it is hard to imagine how it works without oil!).

I saw in the fine print that you can't use % off coupons on compressors. How did you get a coupon to work with it SOOOB?
