That's not the fix, I've left a message that we can't see them in the WIKI, but can in a standard post. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.

It is a bit handier to not have to scroll down, but I'd be the only one that could maintain the first post.
Just give out your password see we can all edit the first post laugh out loud

I could always see the Wiki coupons, but I'm using the older version of SD, because the new version is just awful.

not free, but 5 pair for $6

In a pinch, I had to buy this 5 pack. IMO, they are better than the free orange/black gloves. Thicker material and better construction. Did not get them wet, but what wouldn't be better than orange and black hands? I gave a pair to the guy who was managing departure of auction equipment and he was jubilant.

I've found that the sizes of their gloves are horribly inconsistent, even within one pack of gloves. I actually like the size of the orange and black freebie I tried once, but of course orange and black hands .....

I say good to the end of NPR...... not that I'm in there every day, but I do purchase things there often and with the opening of a "closer" store which also happens to be in a relatively seedy area of a city, if you were thinking you'd grab a free flashlight because you happened to be in there for something else (you know, not just looking for free crap but buying something), you'd be out of luck because all the lowlifes have already taken all the "Free" stuff.

HF deserves what it gets for giving shit away for free, no strings attached, and honestly it's to drive foot traffic (e.g. loss leader), but when I walk in to actually solicit the store and can't find a *single* free item there's something wrong.

1715 Retail A [harborfreight.com] Thru 5/3 - Power Tool Blowout Sale

They just had a it few weeks ago. We may see one for Memorial weekend.

Does anyone know if $140 is about as low as this 12" sliding compound miter saw gets? I mean that's really freaking close to the sale price of their 10" version. Anyone have any comments on if this is well made enough to last for years if I'm using it maybe a few times a year to work on a bookshelf or putting up a fence, basically moderate intensity household projects?

Or is there another brand in a similar price range I should be looking at (DeWalt, Ryobi, Bosch or even the big chain house brands like Kobalt all seem way more expensive for similar 12" miters with this functionality).

I got mine for $104 shipped. That was with a "Thursday Night" 25% off Parking Lot sale combo last year.

The best I've seen recently was $134.99.

Most 12" miters are $400+ so the HF saw is very inexpensive. But do you really need the capacity of a 12" sliding miter?

If you are just cutting smaller stuff, I own and recommend the Hitachi 10" miter saw from Lowes which can be had for under $100 with a coupon. It can cut 2x6's and 4x4's which covers most DIY projects. It also uses a 10" blade, which is more common and cheaper than a 12" blade. And it weighs a LOT less than a 12" saw, so it is portable. If you are going to build a deck, install hardwood floors, or cut a lot of trim I highly recommend the Hitachi because you can easily bring it to the work site. I would only get a 12" slider if you knew that you were going to be cutting 12" wide boards and were planning to install it permanently - those things are HUGE!

Back before the free flashlights I ran into a guy at the register with a couple boxes of those dual flashlight packs. I think they were $2 on coupon? He was selling them for $5 at his booth.

Even at that I thought he crazy because they were probably only costing HF $0.25.

I agree. A finish carpenter friend of mine claimed that a smaller blade will cut a more precise cut. Something about the larger 12" blade wobbling more than a 10". This could just be him picking nits as he works primarily on high end homes.

I saw on another site that harbor freight just sent out a coupon package a little earlier this month that had a 20% off coupon with no exclusions. Did anybody get one of these?

I bought the 10" sliding compound miter saw from HF for about $35-$40 open box a year or two ago. I bought 2 in fact thinking if one dies I'll have a back up. The one I have been using is model #98199 which corresponds with #61972. The other that I have not yet used is #61307 which corresponds with #61971. I point this out because they are different. The biggest is the difference is the trigger. On the 98199/61972 there is one large button you depress to start the saw. On the 61307/61971 it's got 2 trigger locks. I don't feel like digging it out but I am pretty sure you need to depress both locks for the trigger to engage making it a two handed operation.

Otherwise its a great saw! Goes thru wood like a hot knife through butter. I have been putting down hardwood floors in my house using it and it looks fantastic. I'm even still using the Chicago Electric Power Tools saw blade that came with it.

I'm glad I didn't decide I needed yellow name brand saw. No regrets here Smilie

Yeah, the 7x12 bandsaw for $250 was my greatest score. Then a couple of the 1hp shapers for $50 each. $75 for a 2 ton engine hoist missing only 2 pins is right up there.
