Wal-Mart has the General Grabber STX on clearance. Just got 4 of them for $30 each. These are a walmart branded tire but are based on the General Grabber HTS.

This is the tire it shares a build with...
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/ti...rabber+HTS

Same treadwear, 640, and traction/temperature rating, A/B. Should be able to get 35-60k out of them depending on the tire size and driving style/vehicle.

Use Brickseek to see what the price is near you for your size. The Wal-Mart website still charges the original price. Then go to the store and ask if they have them and the price. It should match brickseek.

EDIT:

Looks like many of the Goodyear Viva 3 and Douglas Performance are also on clearance.

The Douglas Performance Tire 205/50R16 are $13 each and 215/45R17 $56 each near me.

Both of them are a ok economy tire. Not great but better than the no name/chinese tires.

A few stores around me have them for this price, too bad I don't need SUV/Truck tires.

IMHO I don't trust Walmart brand tires or Walmart tire installations.

These are the same as the General HTS tires, just with STX on them instead. The ones I bought are Made in the US on the same line/plant as the HTS tires. Same compound and ratings.

I promise, these are good tires.

no? why?

I never had a problem in 10 years on two cars and paid less than half of retail via deals like this + free rotation = unbeatable IMHO.

What tire was that? Sometimes a walmart will match another one if you can find it closer.

If not then keep an eye out for the next couple weeks as the ones I bought went from $80 to $30.

I had General Grabbers on a Nissan Xterra and they lasted forever. Very impressed with the tread life.

It's usually those who never used Walmart tire or those who doesn't like Walmart because they're too good for Walmart are the quick ones to comment negatively. I for one never had problems with Walmart tire change.

I've had a problem with a tire coming off the rim while it was parked overnight but I was able to resolve the problem by doing a charge back and then buying a matching tire from Walmart's website. That was about 2 years ago with a clearance tire that was no longer available.
