Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.

Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:

$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included

2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.

Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

have you used the walmart phone at all? btw when you call them and they hear of problems with walmart promo they beg you to speak with a supervisor....was told many ppl have problems with this promo (random reasons) and....they stopped refunding 1st month for problems because of the high number of ppl being refunded and the continuous problems...
Yeah, sent texts to all of them. And all but one have been getting calls from both robocallers and people looking for the previous holder of the recycled number.

Making me just a little nervous about porting out of Cricket since I have the multi-line discount at the higher grandfathered amount. Will lose it with any account change.

I'm in the same boat. I've never used more then 3-4 gb on my Cricket 5gb plan. I'm thinkin the At&t Prepaid 360 8gb plan is the best one for me but the "Just in Case" factor is killin me too.
I have also been comparing these two plans. In my case, this plan comes down to $35 per line if you add a second line after the multi-line discount. An additional feature of this Walmart plan is that you can use your data as a hot-spot (not sure if the other plan allows it.) Also with the other plan, since you are prepaying the plan for the year, you cannot switch to another plan in case you change your mind or if some better deal comes along during the holiday season.

1) Autopay not required, but it'll save you $10 a month
2) You can fund it with a credit card when activating
I want to use my prepaid cards. While activating a new line, it says if I use prepaid card, then the autopay will be turned off which means no discount. Will this work?

1. During activation, pay the full $50 using prepaid card.
2. After activation and setting up the online account, enter your credit card and sign up for autopay. Will this step issue me a credit of $10 for the first month?
3. Leave the credit card on file for autopay but fund the next months with prepaid cards.

I activated using a credit card w/ autopay for $40, then added my prepaid card. But it looks like it just used it to pay next months bill as the online account now shows "0.00 Due" in September.

Not sure how it'll work out if you make the activation payment with a prepaid card.

shine has bonus headset included..prolly a 99c pos

other than that it's EXACTLY the same phone
Thank you very much for the clarification. That's kind of odd that they added an accessory & changed the name of the phone but then again there are a lot of weird things in prepaid.

I'd call 611 after 10 days (any earlier and they'll tell you to wait). Initially people were just returning phones and eating the $50 plan fee, recently Others have reported they were able to either get the bonus applied or refund of their plan fee. It's a really goofy promo - I think literally someone gets a list of new activations and checks to see if it's a Walmart device and manually applied it to your account...really weird.

I can assure you 100% they dont refund 1st month anynore... they say dispute it with your CC but we can't refund. Even if you cancel all together...they have a team assigned to see why this promo has so many errors, what triggers the system not to issue the bonus...they are investigating but stooped issuing refunds for 1sr month

Thanks - that clears up one question. Now as to why the promo is so inconsistently applied.

Just an update, things were a little more complicated on my end than expected but it all worked out.

Phone 1, didn't need phone number, activated waited for data with sim in walmart phone. Data bonus posted. Moved sim over to new phone after, everything works fine (ATT phone to begin with) with no extra configuration.

Phone 2, needed phone port. Did the speedtalk mobile option. Phone number ported out of AT&T postpaid. Put speedtalk mobile sim into phone, oops, network locked ATT phone. ATT online unlock form doesn't recognize IMEI. Call AT&T 10-15 minutes later they "have to put in a request" 4 business days to unlock. At this point I'm hoping that ATT pre and post paid will work with the phone in terms of network lock.

Turn my eye to Speedtalk mobile to get porting info. Nothing is listed in online account. Called 3-4 times, each time disconnected after a 10-15 minute wait time. Sent in online help request, lol, they text it immediately (which I can't get because phone is ATT locked). Send in online help request with e-mail request, get it 1 hour later.

Call ATT port, give info, ported over after about 10 mins. Data remains, autopay disabled have to setup CC again. Yay!

This is a *lot* of hoops to jump through. Now to decide if keeping walmart phones.

Yes, I did this. It was super easy and worked out great. Used Ting for 2 days then back to AT&T Prepaid as a new customer.

Thanks, gonna go grab a starter kit tomorrow. Did you use the GSM (T-Mobile?) or the CDMA (Sprint) pack? I just read that Ting will be dropping their T-mobile service pretty quick.

My Ting kit was the GSM variant.

Thanks for that. I was wondering how it was going to be porting out of Speedtalk.

Day 11 with no sign of the bonus on 2 of my phones. Was really hoping to take care of the porting today. Going away for a week on Sunday and my Cricket renews on Tuesday. Have 2 phones to switch over that I won't have with me when I'm gone.

A little hard to believe two billion dollar companies can screw things up this bad. It's like dealing with the "free" fly by night cell deals in the past.

And AT&T must be reading my posts. All 3 lines I was waiting on just got the promo. Almost eerie.

Time to start porting.
