Saw a new sign at Walmart that looks pretty interesting. There's no dates on it, and I can't find any info on the deal anywhere which tells me that someone probably screwed up and put the sign out too soon....but anyway.
Seems like a pretty good deal for AT&T network:
$50/mo. but $40 with autopay:
- UNL Talk & Text
- 25GB High Speed Data then 2G
- Hotspot included
- Mexico and Canada roaming included
2 lines would be $70, 3 lines would be $100, 4 lines would be $120, and 5 lines would be $140.
Looks like this deal is only at Walmart - everywhere else has 16GB data offer and it requires autopay. This offer looks like it doesn't require auto-pay.

Making me just a little nervous about porting out of Cricket since I have the multi-line discount at the higher grandfathered amount. Will lose it with any account change.
2) You can fund it with a credit card when activating
1. During activation, pay the full $50 using prepaid card.
2. After activation and setting up the online account, enter your credit card and sign up for autopay. Will this step issue me a credit of $10 for the first month?
3. Leave the credit card on file for autopay but fund the next months with prepaid cards.

Not sure how it'll work out if you make the activation payment with a prepaid card.
other than that it's EXACTLY the same phone

Phone 1, didn't need phone number, activated waited for data with sim in walmart phone. Data bonus posted. Moved sim over to new phone after, everything works fine (ATT phone to begin with) with no extra configuration.
Phone 2, needed phone port. Did the speedtalk mobile option. Phone number ported out of AT&T postpaid. Put speedtalk mobile sim into phone, oops, network locked ATT phone. ATT online unlock form doesn't recognize IMEI. Call AT&T 10-15 minutes later they "have to put in a request" 4 business days to unlock. At this point I'm hoping that ATT pre and post paid will work with the phone in terms of network lock.
Turn my eye to Speedtalk mobile to get porting info. Nothing is listed in online account. Called 3-4 times, each time disconnected after a 10-15 minute wait time. Sent in online help request, lol, they text it immediately (which I can't get because phone is ATT locked). Send in online help request with e-mail request, get it 1 hour later.
Call ATT port, give info, ported over after about 10 mins. Data remains, autopay disabled have to setup CC again. Yay!
This is a *lot* of hoops to jump through. Now to decide if keeping walmart phones.

Day 11 with no sign of the bonus on 2 of my phones. Was really hoping to take care of the porting today. Going away for a week on Sunday and my Cricket renews on Tuesday. Have 2 phones to switch over that I won't have with me when I'm gone.
A little hard to believe two billion dollar companies can screw things up this bad. It's like dealing with the "free" fly by night cell deals in the past.

Time to start porting.
