Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

Appreciate this clarification. Some commentators have been spreading false narratives which helps no one. I wish they would stop.
By fasle narrative you meant they said that if u funded your prepaid account with the prepaid card to avoid tax, ATT will still charge your cc after a month or so...? Yeah that kind of confused and worried me. After reading a lot of posts here, my thought is that I'll just pay the tax and get thing moving forward smoothly rather than save a few bucks with prepaid cards..but since I'm living in a very high tax..it would not be SD at all Smilie

Do you think there will be a similar deal around Thanksgiving time? My AT&T contract (yes, they still exists) will expire in mid-December, and I am hoping I can switch from AT&T postpaid to prepaid at that point.
They have deals all the time it seems. Right now they have this and the 25GB Walmart deal. Before that, they had a 16GB prepaid deal.

Does this mean the deals will only get better? Only time will tell.

Do I think they will have a better deal? I don't know. Only AT&T can answer that. Maybe they're just doing this to swell their numbers at the moment.

Personally, I've never seen a better deal for me than this. But I haven't really been looking either. Maybe they hope half of us will die in less than a year and keep the money without having constraints on their network.

My Sprint Free 1 year plan ends on 9/30/19 and I'd like to switch to AT&T Prepaid the same day my Sprint service ends and I don't want to order my SIM card online too in advance, since the SIM auto-activates within 7 days.

Can I buy a prepaid SIM card at my local AT&T store (or Walmart or Best Buy) so I'll be ready to sign up and activate through the phone or in person on 9/30/19? Others in this thread have had success signing up on the phone, but I was wondering if the promo requires me buying/registering the SIM card from the prepaid website first since I'm porting in the same number.

Also use PayPal/discover to get 5% back and freeze/lock original credit card (used for sim) before starting activation process.
What if I go to the store and buy the sim by cash? Would that work? Or I have to use a cc ?
I can't freeze the cc since I got auto bill pay on lots of other stuffs.

So did you port the number over successfully first and then activate the sim or both tasks are concurrently?
Yes porting was successful when i called in about issues with activating SIM. No problem porting. On a side note, checked my credit card yesterday and I was charged TWICE for the $302 ($300 + tax)! Had to call CS and have one charge credited. Annoying but everything seems to be working well now.

Are there any websites besides Target that offer discounted AT&T prepaid cards?

This is only when Target had them on sale. I'm not sure if their is a deal on discounted AT&T pre-paid cards now.

It was a deal. Every week they have deals. Last week there was $5 off on $65 ATT prepaid card. This week there is not. It might come up next week or not. I am waiting and can wait till September end for deal to come up.

I didn't see the option to remove the sim. If I remember correctly, some people discussed about buying the sim from the store few pages earlier. But it seemed more complicated. I froze my card only when I called to get it activated (was a pain to get rid of bots) and removed the freeze immediately after getting the message that a transaction from ATT has been declined (max 3-4 hrs later). Alternatively, you may try to use a virtual card with $5-6 limit.

My take: Go through the normal route, unless you stand to save significant amount (I paid $270 - 5% cash back on 270). It's not worth the hassle otherwise.

Thank you. I have been using a lot of my data this month on H2O. I believe I will run out on next Monday-ish. My bill cycle won't reset till 10/1 so I'll switch over. I can go buy the ATT prepaid sim at Walmart like you did. I found on eBay some refill card for cheaper (like $10 for $7.85) but this begs the question, is there a limit on how many card I can load into the account.
Also, I click on one of the link you put. It got me to the log in page where I have to put in my phone number and password to log in. Say, if the agent on the phone helps me port the number over successfully, will they give me a temp password to log in?
I guess after I log in I can load those refill card (email delivery) and use it to pay.
Thank you for your guidance.
I am not aware of any specific limit on the number of refill cards we can use. Regarding login, once the port is confirmed, you can login to the prepaid site using your phone number. Just click forgot password and it will give an option of a temp password over SMS. Once logged in, you can add your refill cards. Good luck!
