Yeah, sorry I'm on my phone right now but when I get to computer I'll upload a picture. This was in Michigan, so it might be regional too.

Meal kits always have filler products. Granola & Powdered Milk, Biscuits & Gravy, Desserts, and Powdered Eggs etc.

$30 is all it is worth at most, and freeze dried only if you need the light weight, or extended shelf life.

Beef Stroganoff, and Chili Mac, are the classic meals, the rest are hit and miss...

Disagree with Milkbone on the value/price. I use these regularly for backcountry hiking/camping and the 9 meals would make the per meal cost only $3.33. Less than half of an off-the-shelf singles price. The 'filler' items are indeed cheaper but still good in a pinch or for a quick car camping bite.

Arguably the best tasting freeze-dried brands out there but lacking in the calorie department for extended trips.

Backpacking gives you the potential need for saving weight by eating freeze dried meals, but lets face it they are edible, but that's about it.

Never seen either of the local stores lower the price on these. They keep them all winter or until they run out, usually put them over by the bread on the back row.

Maybe we should get OP to buy out his local store and ship us some? Haha

I have found Mountain House to be the most reliable in terms of quality and taste. I would add that the lasagna almost always makes it into my backpack.

Yes. Which is exactly what this product is for. I don't think fellow SDers are going to think that these are meant to be at-home meal replacements.

I've had multiple packs of every single one of these meals and they're far better than "just edible". I've tried many different brands and Mountain House and been the most reliably good tasting to me.

Super slick for people who use them for their intended purposes....Long-term storage emergency meals or camping.

I was at a local event this weekend where mountain house was touting new packaging....I wonder if these are old packaging that needs to get cleared out?
