A 40% discount over the MSRP of a Zen 2 3200G, but almost as fast. [cpubenchmark.net]

It seems to support HDMI 4K playback @ 60 MHz on my neighbor's TV even though my board is only rated for 4K @ 24 MHz.. It has been stable for me on both Debian and Ubuntu, though I have a friend who had frequent freeze ups on Ubuntu Bionic until he updated to the latest HWE hardware stack. Mine drives 3 monitors very nicely.

It comes with a CPU fan.

Great deal! The 3200G only offers a small (5-7%) performance gain and is $40 more. Nice CPU for a cheap HTPC!
Really good CPu for the price. Plays games at respectable frame rate depending on the settings. If u want over 100fps put settings at 720p low settings. Also use 2 sticks of ram equaling 8gb or more and make sure it's fast like 3000 MHz or above. The cpu is a apu and use a lot of ram so more ram the better the performance. Good for a $400 or under budget build with no gpu and all new parts.
ANd the GPU on this REALLY likes high speed ram. Like to the point going from 2400 to 3200 is well over a 50% performance boost.

Really nice deal for a decent CPU. What's a good and cheap motherboard for this that supports 3200 ram.

Great option for that. If you pair it with a b450 motherboard, 2 sticks of 3200mhz ram (8gb each, 16gb total) and a 400 or 500 watt power supply he'll have a system that's works great now, and can be overclocked or given easy and cost effective gpu and cpu upgrades in the future if he needs them for other games or software he gets into (or if he gets into the car tuner like culture of pc gaming hardware). Just check any motherboard you get to make sure it's friendly with a Ryzen 3600 or better, as those chips will be powerful enough for a long time to come, and will be a good option to have in the future.

And a 4K/60Hz output via HDMI. Preferably in miniITX form factor. Big Grin

Finding a stable 3200mhz b450 isn't going to be cheap. They are usually in the $100+

I thought the max ram speed for this CPU was 2993MHz. I would love to be wrong on that though as I recently purchased a 2220G and can't get my RAM to run at a higher speed even with a compatible mobo.

man i really wish the AM4 asrock deskmini would go on sale on of these days. Having seen intel 1151 versions for as low as $100 on here, it's hard for me to buy any asrock deskmini at full price

The 3200mhz RAM is really for using with a potential future CPU upgrade. That speed tends to be the break point where you don't save much (if any) money by buying slower ram, so you may as well get 3200c16. If you find a really cheap 3000 kit, that makes sense to go with (I use 3000c15 in my personal z170 system from a couple of years ago), I just haven't seen any real cost savings by doing that recently.
