I have actually done it twice for Taotronics, but a recent set from them (not these specific headphones) were DOA on arrival, and once I got a replacement set they worked awesome, for about two weeks. They hadn't paid me yet (although that wouldn't have mattered) so I told them about my issues and that I was changing my review on Amazon to one star (from 4 when they worked) and that I couldn't recommend them to anyone and to not worry about sending me money because I was returning them (again) to Amazon..
I'm all for getting free stuff to try out, but I'm going to tell the truth and edit my review if needed. If a company doesn't like that, they can not contact me to try out their stuff, it's up to them. I make sure to tell anyone who contacts me that I'm going to be honest as if I had bought the item at full price and judge from that.
Unfortunately not everyone is like that, and will say the headphones or whatever are great in order to get more free stuff. I buy and review all kinds of cheap headphones/tech on my own anyway, so I'm not going to compromise my integrity (even through Amazon reviews) just to get more free stuff.
If I can save someone the trouble of being excited about getting some cool headphones only to have them arrive DOA or stop working after two weeks (or however long) I'm all for it.
I probably will be thumbed down for admitting to being a part of this practice, but at least I'm up front with whatever company contacts me (such as Taotronics) and honest in my reviews, so oh well.
Edit: Taotronics (or any other brand) that I've worked with have never asked me to remove a negative review (I wouldn't anyway), but many of these off-brand companies will go above and beyond to make you happy (offer a refund, offer a different set of headphones, etc...), more than likely to help grow their brand, but take that as you will.

One more thing though, why don't more earbud designs adopt the oval shape? Like the Panasonic Ergofit. Those things fit like a glove and sound so darn great.
How comfortable do you find them?
Thanks!
