I have this opener for about two years now, and when it works it does a great job and is easy to handle. There are some types of cans though that it somehow can't open at all, therefore I'm forced to use a manual opener on the side on occasion. Just be aware.

This is the best can opener I've ever owned. I've paid way more for can openers and none of them come even slightly close to this one. It opens cans perfectly every single time! They make great Christmas presents or house warming gifts as well.

FYI, some have complained of metal shavings coming off the can, which can potentially get in your food...here is a quote from one of the reviews:

"I purchased this product 2 years ago. At first it was awesome but what I started noticing overtime were metal shavings on my counter after opening cans. Upon further investigation, I noticed lots of metal shavings and discontinued using it for safety reasons. I wouldn't want anyone in my family including the dogs to ingest metal shavings. Definitely would not buy this product for safety reasons."

My favorite can opener ever. It's the kind that smoothes the edges on the lid, which besides not cutting you, allows you to kind of put the lid back on so you can put the remainder in the fridge.

Same, best can opener ever!

To shavings post, they probably make millions of these, a few are bound to be broken or defective, or abused by the owner. I've never seen a metal shaving from mine. Credit to that reviewer for realizing they have a serious problem (metal shavings, yikes!), but I doubt it's very common.

I'll backup all the positive reviews. Best can opener I've ever had. Been going on 5 years now with mine. It seems like it cuts the can from the side instead of "top down" thus you get a lid that does not cut your hand. I've never had any "shaving in food" issues. Easy buy if you need one. I keep mine in a cabinet as I'm a no-clutter up my counters kind, so cord is of no concern.
