The gaming you can do on a Ryzen 5 3500U is pretty limited regardless. I bought one (huawei matebook D) for my brother. Although yes you can do some. It will barely run Destiny at 30 FPS for example, settings as low as possible. You aren't really going to get current 3D gaming out of it. Maybe stuff like Rocket League. Not stuff like Assassin's Creed. And you could probably do most of that on single channel too. That's my point. The band of gaming that dual vs single Ryzen matters to is pretty narrow, kind of stupid to worry about it. It's not much for gaming WITH dual channel.
And again, cant you add a stick of ram and make it dual channel if it's so important? I honestly dont know but I'm guessing. Granted that adds some to the cost.
If you want better, spend more! This a great out the door deal for 300.
And again, isn't this "thin n light" ethos? why would you try to make a thin and light device into a gaming device in the first place? Thermals and heat anyone?
Do you work for lenovo or something?

Next is the wifi card upgrade if I can find one that fits from my bin of trash cheap laptops.
editing this post now: memory clocks went back down to 1200 MHz and I dont even know why, before I got any further I'm just going to let windows finish installing every update until it's current

I also just noticed that notebookcheck.net [notebookcheck.net] includes this specific laptop Motile Ryzen 5 in its synthetic benchmark lists, alongside a few dual-channel laptops. The benches aren't that much lower (vega 8 dual channel benches show 10-30% improvement over the Motile, and actual FPS differences are usually lower then synthetic benchmark differences). That could still mean a difference between smoothish ~30fps and choppy ~30fps or a few lowered graphics settings, but the closest vega 8 dual channel laptop is at least $100 more.
... in all seriousness, though, what are we comparing with? It's cheap and snappy compared to my mid-2014 MBP, but still pretty well built.
By default I'd choose 18.04.3 LTS but wondering if maybe I should go with 19.10 for possibly better compatibility

Edit: nvm, just doesn't work with the Walmart app. Works with safari.
It still works for me. Maybe try it in an incognito window?
Edit: The link works but it seems the bundle is now $339 instead of $313

Anyone have any comparisons between this and the Lenovo 330s @ $309 also at Walmart? I'm torn between the two (need it for browsing, a sibling who's learning to code, Netflix/Hulu, and eBay). You guys all seem like experts compared to me so any opinions would be welcome. I'm leaning towards the Lenovo simply because of the better known brand name and slightly larger screen.....but I'm clueless as to the performance specs comparison.
I fart.
