If this saw has the capacity to cut what someone needs to cut, why would they want to spend more money on a larger, heavier, and less accurate sliding version?

so you don't eventually need to have this + a sliding version. I wouldn't say they are less accurate. If you lock a slider so it does not slide the accuracy should be the same. If you ever want to do your own laminate installs a sliding is a must.

(And yes, a little larger and a little heavier)

Note that I prefaced my comment with "if this saw has the capacity you need". It should go without sayings that if you need to cut bigger stuff than this saw can cut, then you should consider something else such as a big, heavy, less accurate, expensive slider.

Not sure you need the accuracy of a miter saw to cut laminate since the cuts are well hidden by the trim. If someone does have wider laminate boards than this saw can cut, they could always just flip them to finish the cuts. Personally, having done over a dozen laminate floors, I typically just grab my little battery powered circular saw - it does a great job on crosscuts, notching, and ripping down those last pieces along the far wall.

True, nothing beats cordless. Not sure why I never used it for laminate floors and always used the slider. Thanks for the tip. Might save me a lot of walking upstairs and downstairs for my next job.

Got this saw during BF, I really like it, it's got handles in just the right place, really easy to carry/ handle.

Everything else works as any other saw, nothing remarkable there, but it's a saw, it cuts wood.

I have one of these and they are great. Squares up well and the miter angle cut feature moves and locks down well. Angle cuts come out spot on. The dust collection bag is useless but they pretty much all are. Between the same Hitachi model and this Metabo they have been on sale like a dozen times at $99 or $89 since BF. I got mine for $89 last summer when they started dumping the Hitachi stuff to replace it with Metabo. You can't beat this for under $100

I have this saw and it folds down into a very small footprint. Sliders take much more room behind the saw.
