It looks like AT&T may be starting a new promotion for the start of the month. I just went to my account to see what is offered since my 100mbps fiber plan is about up. Only 100mbps($45/mo) and 1000mbps($39.99/mo) is offered, no 300mbps is offered, but it was available a day ago for $40, and I saw an ad for it on TV today. If you have AT&T internet, check the plans offered in your account dashboard. There is no mention of equipment charges, but this is for a bundle. Southern states.

AT&T Internet 1000
Includes unlimited internet data$59.99
$20 off for 12 months with bundle-$20.00

The equipment fee is for their gateway which you have to use, can't get around it. You can use your own modem after it, but you need the gateway first. If you were an AT&T customer and had the gateway you could try to get a CS rep to drop the fee, sometimes they do, sometimes not. If you are a new customer then go the online route and get the rewards. Rewards and a CB site should get you close to $300 and sorta offset the fee for a couple years. And make sure there is no installation fee, since they brought back equipment fees, they may try to bring back the installation fee(if they are doing in-home installations in your area).
Thank you. This was very helpful!

Actually, one more question - any comments on how the gateway performs as a router? Is it recommended to get your own?

My opinion is for basic usage it seems pretty featured. Ability to setup a guest wifi network, separate 2.4 and 5Ghz settings, etc. Can't do anything fancy like VPN but for basic home usage it seems the functionality of these carrier-provided gateways has progressed.

That said, for better features and security, I'm running a downstream router running DD-WRT.

In the past, I've used the carrier-supplied gateways or modems for the guest network only and my own router for internal network - just ensure the wifi channels aren't overlapping. One useful feature in the AT&T gateway is the carrier-level speed test which is usually in the 950Mbps range both up and down for me. That can help isolate problems down the road.

Looking to switch my ISP. I currently have an ATT land line for work and ATT TV Now but one of the older grandfathered plans available. Online it looks like internet 1000 is $49.99+$10 equipment fee for the first year. Offering 2x $100 gift card and cash back site is $75 for Internet sign up. Reading the last few pages I see mention of bundling discounts to save some more. Logging into my account doesn't seem to offer me anything. Whats my best course of action to sign up, should I order online and then call into CS right after or call in first (don't want to miss the $75 cash back site)?
Since you have a land line for work and a grandfathered plan you must have years(maybe) of "loyalty" with ATT. That might help in getting the fee dropped or offset for the year as a poster listed in the wiki stated, "After asking a bit more, they were able to add an additional $10 a month off for "loyalty" to offset the equipment fee." And you should be able to bundle the land line and internet to get the $39.99 deal. But you'll have to do you best schmoozing with the rep. If not for the equipment fee then maybe for the ridiculous fees and taxes on the land line. But doing it with the rep may not get you the rewards for the online signup. You can do a test run to see how it would stack up in your cart, just don't hit submit. I think on the check out page there is a number at the top that you can call to finish the order, but it was down when I tried it. There is a place above where you put the promo code for a rep code, so I guess you can get a rep to adjust the cart. Look at post #625 for an example of a cart for a 50Mbps plan that used the same codes. And note that the two $25 codes--XTRACASH and SPRING25--stack for $50.
Your problem will be with the CB site. Remember you have to go through that portal with a empty basket, get the confirmation, go to the site and then add the plan and code stuff. It's gonna be kinda tricky because you need to not leave stuff in your cart for to long, I don't know how long, but surely not days. The CB site has pretty much been at $75 since this promo started, two weeks ago it was $85 for the week and twice it has had double cash back for $150.

They call it a Residentual Gateway(RG) and it's a modem/router combination that works fine for me. You can add a router if you want, or when you see a Slick Deal one like I did. One thing you "might" get is a smart wi-fi extender. If you download their Smart Home Manager(free) to manage your devices it "might" send you a free one. Sometimes when people first open the app or, in my case about a week later and several tries, you get a notice they are sending you a free extender. I got mine about a week or two back, tried to pair it with the RG and it wouldn't pair at first so I set it aside. Then yesterday I put it in a far away bedroom to see how far it would go and it was paired up and is working great. From one end of my house through 3 walls and past a masonary chimney! They are both next to windows on the front side of a brick house so I guess it went out the window and around. It's on the 5 GHz band, and I've run a cat 7 ethernet cable from it to a TV. It's working fine, for now. One day I hate ATT, the next day I think they ain't so bad.

In my case, the router on the AT&T gateway was not stable enough. Lot of disconnects. I connected a Linksys WRT1200AC router running OpenWrt. Ended up with better network.

I've received my AT&T $200 rewards in total for my fiber internet ordered on April 7. Another $75 rewards from -t -c -b portal should be posted in 3 weeks.

Heads up for those thinking about getting new AT&T service. The CB site with the $75 cash back that has been mentioned put a "ends tomorrow" on their offers today. The last time they did this was 3 weeks ago and the offer went from $75 to $85 for 7 days, then back to $75. Prior to that, Good Friday was the day after another "ends today" and the new offer was double cash back for one day ($150 & $300) and then back to $75. And there was a double cash back in mid-March for a few days. So it looks like something will happen on Friday. Keep this in mind if you're thinking about pulling the trigger.

What type of equipment is included for $10 per month? Any way to opt out of the equipment and provide my own?

Currently being quoted $49.99/month for Internet 1000 and additional $10/month for equipment.

I am located in the Bay Area. Not a wireless customer.

I once built an order online and then called in to ask about something before ordering. When I called, the offer changed substantially, but I don't remember all the details. The problem with calling is you get nothing in writing. They sent me a summary of the order via email after the call, but it was different (in their favor) from what I had agreed to, so the hassle began all over again. You may have trade-offs between ordering via a call vs. online, but I think I prefer online to have the whole thing in print, including rewards. I had to "remind" them of $100 rewards from my last order, and having screenshots made it much easier.

Have this issue as well. Signal keeps getting disconnected randomly, had better WiFi service on a 400mbps spectrum connection. Also anyone how long the discounts stacked take to ship? Just signed up and received only the $100 credit but applied the 3 promo codes.

Thanks everyone! The wiki helped.

I'm a current Fiber 1000 customer that was on a $70/mo promotion. I called and the first customer service rep couldn't get me the deal.

I asked to be transferred to the Loyalty Department. Once I reached the Loyalty Department, they got me setup with the $49.99 total/mo plan. No fees or taxes above the $49.99.

Very Slickdeal. Thanks!!!

Yeah, that's the question. They seem to stick with their plans price for awhile. I think I first saw a 300mbps deal on here way back in late '18. I would think you're pretty safe, but you can always keep calling.
Thanks for answering questions in this thread. This was probably the most work I've done trying to get a discount. My experience....

1-800-331-0500 this seems to be the best number to call.
I've talked to about 5 reps over the last couple months including someone on the loyalty team. No one allowed me to change to the 49.99 promo pricing while I had the existing 70/mo gigabit promo. I had to wait until my contract expired. Once it expired, the first agent was able to adjust my plan to the new 49.99 promo pricing. Funny thing is my call got disconnected with the agent and I had to call back and the second agent confirmed the order is being processed. I'm not sure if there is an equipment fee or not, at this point I don't care. It's better than the $100/mo normal rate. I just hope the order goes through like they said!
